Mine Deployment

So I figured out, as the Advent, that I can choose between fighters, bombers or mines.  However, I have not yet learned how to deploy mines.  Is goes like this: I allocate mines and in time they seem to deploy themselves.  I would like more control over mine placement.  Sometimes I see mines in places where they are absolutely useless.  Also, it is my guess that even should mines exist in a system you have just conquered, they become inactive???

make sure u dont have auto placememnt on as it mite be that, i'll play advent for a bit and post back.

 

EDIT: ok do teh research then build a hanger from the hanger menu build a squad of mines when they're done move them were u want then deploy them and u have ur mines then just wait for the squad to rebuild and repeat. have fun.

yeah, but the will deploy on their own if you do nothing.  does that halt with auto placement off?

No, an Advent mine squadron is just another type of strike craft until its deploy ability is used.  The problem at the moment is that deploy is set to autocast enabled by default so the squad typically decides to turn into homing mines in fairly useless places as you've seen.

When the mine squad is being produced, select it and turn the autocast off.  Then when its done being built you can put it where you want your homing mines and trigger the change manually.  Repeat as needed / wanted.

so a change should be that they are autocast = off by default.

Yes, I would say that would be a very nice change.

Also the mine deployment ability for the new Vasari ship as well, queue up a bunch of those and forgetting about them makes for a seriously cluttered system.

Most of all though the self-destruct ability on TEC starbases being set to autocast is just seriously wrong...

I would also like to see mines somehow destroyed after you take over a system since they don't do anything and are kinda irritating to look at.

they shouldnt be set to auto cast, i didnt see this problem when i built a squad but i have auto placement off as default so idk.
