Conversion Mod for Sins 1.17

Sins: FreeSpace 1 - A conversion project for Sins of a Solar Empire 1.17

This should be the final release for this FS1 era mod.  It contains the update and a couple more fixes.  The maps should also work with 1.17 now.  Install instructions included.  

 

There is a new mod in the works for the FS2 era and entrenchment.  When that is finished we will hopefully revist the FS1 era.

Ok Figured out how to make maps with JumpNodes in GF, and it is fun. I volunteer myself for making Maps for this mod, I have already modified Ancient Gifts to have JumpNodes as well as using proper jumpnode naming conventions (I named the stars and then named the jump nodes acordingly). I am currently working on a small map (comparitivly) That is 3ffa in an equilateral triangle. Just start telling me what you guys want on maps and I'll start in on them.

Yesterday I saw THE LUCIFER!!!!

I'm playing a map of "FreeSpace" (1vs1vs1...I'm GTA) ... and after about two hours, the Lucifer appeared together at 8 Daemon class (with many Lilith and Cain) ...
I've,in this sector, the Hades and 3 Orion class,20+ other ships (Leviathan,Fenris and Faustus)...
I've no chance!!!  :grin:

Sweet, im glad the lucy showed up eventually.  what was your fleet sizes set at for that game?  I have a feeling the super caps wont show up on the small fleet sizes level.

 

I'm still on break looking for work so this mod might go quiet for a bit.  but its still alive.

I use large fleet!

....and actually I've 6 Orion class,50-60 laviathan-fenris-faustus and THE HADES! The Shivan's fleet

is very similar,with Lucy...many (many many many) Daemon,Lilith....

 

Very immersive and difficult game!!!

OK, so here's an official call for help: WE NEED A 3D MODEL WIZARD! Oh, and a texturer would be just awesome, too.

hey guys, i'm getting a weird problem. Every time i try to hover my mouse over the shivan cruiser, the game crashes. I'm running 1.14.

This was a problem in the original release that was fixed in the update. Do you have the update downloaded and applied?

How would one go about importing the ship models from the SCP into an actual modeling program? All the bloody file formats are giving me a headache, since none of them seem to convert into one another. I'm using 3ds Max 2010 primarily, but something for Softimage would work too.

Nevermind, figured it out. Still a nightmare. /sigh

Hey sorry, i havn't checked this is a while.  as far as i know the mod is kinda dead right now.  i just dont have the time.  I do still want to make an entrenchment version with the HQ models and a proper tech tree but i wont be doing it anytime soon.  maybe later in the year.  will post if i start up again.

Hmmm, I have an Issue.. I enable the mod, it gets enabled and then when I go to select a map, there isn't any maps there to select.

This is an issue with all old non-updated mods running in newer versions of Sins. Delete the galaxy folder in the mod, and it should fix it right up.

Slightly confused:

I'm assuming it's not (yet) compatible with Entrenchment v1.03?

Also, both links I clicked on, well, the first gives me a patch for it and the other, well, it brings me to some page where I can upload files if I feel so inclined. Question mark? Freespace 2 is one of those games I'm addicted to, along with SOASE and Supreme Commander. Just downloaded the Babylon 5 mod for FS2 and DAMN! But I digress.

If anyone can light the way for me there, I'd be really appreciative!

Well first off this version is not Entrenchment compatible, so you'll have to run it in standard sins. Also is the 2nd mod download link working? I tried it and it appeared to work fine.

Both links worked for me. However, I also have it mirrord on my Moddb page.

Yes, that version is a bit old and does not work with Entrenchment. In case you didn't catch it though, MidnightJoker posted this in the other FS thread:

"Things are happening again.  Have patience, Before 2009 ends there will be a FS2 mod for Entrenchment. Not many details for now but it will have the HQ ship models and maybe even freespace-ish tech trees.  I wont be doing much on the forum until we get it closer to release but it is coming."

Sorry im useless with keeping up on forums.  I removed the bad links.  Hopefully that makes more sense now.

I dont know if this will work with the latest vanilla sins version.  Definately wont work for Entrenchment.

ok heres the deal im running sins 1.17 i have it showing up on my mod list i click enable mod when starts but it dosnt work can you tell me why they would happen ? really would appricate the help i really wanna play this :)

This mod hasn't been updated to run with the latest version of sins. Something that might need to be done is going in to the files for things that orbit planets (planet modules) and change rotateToFacePlanet FALSE/TRUE to rotateFacingType "None". Also Make sure you delete the galaxy folder for the mod. I think that's everything in the recent patches that'll break it but can't remember for sure.
