Tri-Pirate Beta has been uploaded!!

I have finally readied the first beta of my Tri-Pirate Mod!

 

 

There is more extensive information in the readme file, but here are the basics.

 

 

This is far from finished; it does not include either my music mod or Gurkov’s sound mod.

 

Almost All models are fill ins.

The capitol Ships aren’t even close to what will be in the final mod.

 

Most of the abilities are complete, but they will continue to be improved until the final release.

 

The research (However little there is) isn’t even close to finished; I just have a basic idea of what the final research will be like. As such, many advanced structures (such as the cannon) are available from the start.

 

 

The main point of this beta is too testing the structure of the pirates.

 

I hope to receive feedback on any various bugs in the mod, and in ideas for the structure of the pirates.

 

Oh, yea, I also hope to increase the general respect for the Pirate Juggernaut.

Um, That would take a long time to describe all the changes.

 

SO!

I'll just post a peice of Lore I've been writing. The Whole Lore will be released with the Mod.

 

But remember, Alot of this is NOT in the beta!!

 

The Pirates here do not colonize, research, or gather resources in the normal way. All the rest of their civilization is based around this.

 

The closest they come to research is by expanding their loot storages. These can be accesses by building the Loot Storage, and Advanced loot storage structures. Two line of “research” are available, Capitol Ship supply and fleet supply.

 

Capitol Ship Supply improves the distributing of resources, thus increasing number of capitol ships, availability to structures, and a few abilities for frigates.

 

Fleet Supply increases the storage capacity of the loot storage structures. Thus allowing accesses to larger fleets, more specialized frigates, and even Long Range Jumps, and Worm Hole Navigation eventually.

 

Another structure unique to the pirates is the transaction Device.  Which is a great tribute to the Marketing ploys of the Pirates. With the Transaction device, the pirates can contact outside ship factories, and pay them for Pre-built fleets, and special ships not found anywhere else. Including a ship so large, that it would be the largest Capitol Ship in existence, except that it technically isn’t a capitol ship: The Pirate Juggernaut.

 

As too defensive structures, the pirates have to work around their primary disadvantage, a severe lack of technology. 

 

They have the usual Gauss Cannon and repair station, but past that, their defenses are unique.

 

The Pirates have a difficult time building fighters, so there are not enough fighters for the defenses to have any. To work around this, the pirates have put a large portion of their few engineers to researching better missiles. You’ll find that in quite a few places the Pirates have incorporated advanced missile technology. Here, they were able to produce a missile that could traverse the entire distance of the gravity well. Thus the L.R. Missile Platform was born, an effective replacement of fighter bays.

 

The pirates, also able to rely upon a great asset of their proud ness of being pirates, produced the Rally Flag. A simple device that encourages surrounding vessels and structures to work harder.

Lastly, as a result from increased threat of Novalith bombardment, the pirates were able to strike a deal with far away ship yards, to produce a specialized Transaction device that can Purchase a Pirate fleet like the Normal Transaction device, but unlike the Normal Transaction device, it can call in un-usually large fleets where ever it wants.

 

 

Finally, the pirates are nothing without their ships.

 

The greatest of which is the Pirate Juggernaut. A ship that would be the largest capitol ship in existence, if it weren’t for the fact that it wasn’t a Capitol ship. It is produced on far away shipyards, and jumped in whenever a purchase is made.

 

But, The Juggernaut may be the largest Pirate ship; it is far from the only Pirate ship.

The most famous Pirate Capitol ship is the Pirate KOL. A Pirate Battle Ship produced from a Stolen KOL prototype. It has been outfitted to work for the pirates. Unfortunately, Pirate Engineers still can’t figure out how to fix TEC Beam Cannons, so it is not uncommon to see most of a KOL’s beam cannons not functioning. Sometimes, one Beam Cannon will be completely swapped out for a Laser cannon.

 

It could easily be argued that the Pirate Carrier doesn’t need guns or fighters. Its looks are enough to scare most enemy fleets into submission. It is one of the Very few Capitol ships that were entirely designed, and built by Pirate Engineers as a Capitol Ship. This Carrior may not carry quite as many fighters as other civilization’s carrier capitol ships, but it makes up for it in firepower and abilities.

 

The Pirate Defense Capitol ship was built due to rising need in improved defenses. Because the Pirates don’t colonize, they had a hard time defending Gravity wells far away from the home planet. So, Engines, a hull, and living quarters were welded on to simple production factory. So, the Pirate defense Capitol Ship was born.

 

Besides the Pirate Carrier, the only other Capitol ship designed by Pirate engineers to be a Capitol ship was the Pirate Support ship.

 

The Pirate Siege ship is the most Rag-Tag of Pirate Capitol Ships. It was made right in the middle of the fight for independence from the Trade Order. The Pirates need a siege capitol ship fast. They didn’t need one that was good, they simple needed it FAST. So, they put almost all of their engineers on producing this ship. They took an interesting approach, they started with a large, obsolete cruiser Hull, and started to add all the systems that differentiate cruisers and Capitolships. A small Hanger for a fighter squadron, two missile racks, even a large construction facility to build specialized missiles. And finally, large siege guns. But, it was too much, the cruiser Hull was just too small to take all those systems. Until a young engineer entered the scene. He had been attempting to replicate the Novalith Cannon, but Pirate Technology just wasn’t up to the task. So, as all good Pirate Engineers do, he fell back on good old Nukes.

Im still wondering how you plan on making them get money each time an enemy dies!

I already tested that using my own variant of "Revenge Bounty" and it failed (though at that time I was no where as good as now..but hell...should have worked nevertheless). Only way Im getting my salvager to work now is by having created ana ctive ability that does -20 damage/sec to enemy hull which I recuperate as +5 ressources/sec (metal + crystal)...so please tell me!

It's awsome to me. But remember, again, this is a beta, very early, NO new meshes or textures yet.

 

Shadow Mastiff- I guess you'll just have to wait untill it comes out then. I didn't convert it to binary, so it is easy to read.

I tried to make a Piratey MOD and I gave up. It was mostly just ideas but, one of them I think would be cool for you to do! So, for a pirate capital ship (or an existing one) make the model look like an old wooden sailing ship. Could make the sails Solar Sails or Panels and have uber autocannon/laser broadsides. Instead of wood, metal of course, and big engines on the back!

This is British but essentially this...IN SPACE

Well here's a little thing I drew up. I didn't spend much time on it and please don't take it too literally as I have issues drawing/perceiving 3D...lol

no, not really.

I gave up thinking flying ships were cool when I saw "Treasure Planet".....Yea.

 

I also study physics, so I try to be SOMEWHAT realistic.

Also, My Modeller is much better at comming up with cool ship ideas than I am. SO I let him take care of that.

 

But, dont dispare, there are sailing ship elements scattered here and thier in my mod.

Capitol Carrior has a Skull hood ornament.

Currently considering makeing the support captiol be able to Ram.

...Though, none of that will be in the beta.

Which, should be out in a day or two, soon as it gets uploaded.

Meh, I stilll think solar panels would be an interesting idea considering they arent very high-tech (so it's good for pirates) and there could be abilities related to it. Solar Surge or something...boosts damage,speed,etc.

It would be funny to have a pathetic ship like that.

If someone makes a model and texture for it, I'll put it in the game. BUT! it will be hidden....in plain view MUA HA HA HA HA!!!

 

I can't wait tell my beta is available to see what ppl think!
