Oooh, oooh, I know this one. Dip a tissue in alcohol. Make sure it's fully saturated. Insert into nose. Gently light the end of the tissue that's sticking out, and at the same time call the paramedics. How does the game translate the damage in the entity files to the damage numbers you see in game? I'm also a bit confused on how rate of fire is calculated.

The damage in the files is the damage the weapon does per shot per bank. The damage shown in-game is the rounded damage per second of all banks combined.

As an example with random numbers: Say a ship has lasers on the LEFT, RIGHT, and FRONT banks, and does 10 damage per shot, firing every 2 seconds. Those values in the file will read 10, and the damage on the infocard in game will read 15 for the Laser weapon (10+10+10)/2 = 15. The game does round after the division to the nearest whole.

The rate of fire is the "preBuffCooldown" value in the entity.

Why cant you see enemy targeting lines, once they start firing on something? Do I have to pause the game and kind of line up the ship in question to see just who or what that ship actually shooting at?

*edit* 2nd thought. Why do capital ships not have multiple targeting lines when the can attack more than one target at a time?

Well, the highest damaging weapon is the "primary" weapon of the capital, so that's what decides the facing when you order it to attack. The other weapons just shoot at whatever they can while the "main" weapon is on your original target.

Kind of a half-answer there ;p

edit: btw, I tried this... 911 didn't think it was that funny. I said Annatar11 told me to do it, and they didn't know who you were. (This is in the ambulance ride, mind you) When I said that Annatar11 has over 170 karma, they took me to the psych ward. Thanks Annatar!

Is there any particular reason % bonuses seem off? I made an ability that decreases ability cooldown and antimatter cost, and set both to be a 50% reduction. From the infocard ingame, it shows properly as a 50% reduction. However, once the ability I made is activated, and another ability on the ship is used, it looks like it's only a 33% reduction is given... Are abilities just actually 66% of the number that is given in the ability file?

I had exact same issue as ixidor!
