Submissions here and on WinCustomize

Any good reason to post on both sites?

I was just curious if the skins submitted here would eventually wind up over at WC, or if the author would need to submit their skin in both places?

Of course, I realize that the rules state that the skin needs to be posted here first; but I was just wondering.

Hmm . . I don't think you'll get a merge.  i think you'll get an overwrite.  Only Zoomba can answer for sure though.

The option of a merge would depend on the difficulty of course.  I'd have to talk with Bara/Dean/Pat about that after the competition was over to see if it's even possible.

The tricky thing here is that these skins for the GUIC, and their comments, are in a completely different database.  In addition to the new site, we are experimenting with a new skins library system on the back-end, so there's no easy porting from here to the old system.

Of course, as others have pointed out, you could just submit your GUIC work to the WC gallery after it's been accepted into the competition.  Probably the easiest and fastes solution, but you lose the comments and download counts.

Sounds like bringing over the comments would be a chore. 8|   I think I'll just go ahead and submit here and see what happens with the transfer when it happens. Thanks Zoomba!

I did it last time, this time and will probably do it next time... A lot of people arent interested in the GUI's....Share the love...

We wait until WC 2k9 and merge these skins in with the entire skins database

This will mean the move happens later in 2009 (spring) but the comments and downloads could be kept.

Which would folks prefer?

Would this maybe be when we get my dual sites merged?  Or am I chasing a wild goose?
