Voting
The voting process is confusing to say the least. Actually it sucks. Not worth the effort. ![]()

I can just imagine how that makes all the folks who worked so hard on putting the site together feel.
Its not difficult, read the explanation.
Thank you for your well thought-out and constructive critique of the GUI Champs voting system. Could you take a moment to explain exactly how it's confusing? What could be explained better? How could we improve it?
Whats hard about having 3 points to distribute among the entries as you see fit ? ![]()
Hmm let's see...should I put 3 points on one dream I think outshines them all, or should I give 2 points to one and 1 point to another, or...I could give three different dreams 1 point each. I don't find that confusing at all. In fact, it gives me more options than just being able to choose one. I kind of like the ability to vote this way. And, since I've tried all the dreams in the contest, I think I'll go vote! ![]()
Be sure to use the vote button in each section. The first time I voted, I just used the vote button on the bottom thinking I was submitting my vote for the whole page. Instead I was just voting for the Most Original category and missed voting for the Most Usable. Good thing I went back to the page later. ![]()
Voting doesn't work if you are not logged in. It just redirects you to the homepage. That is very confusing. I thought the system was offline.
It could be clearer that being logged in is a requirement to vote (i.e. we could refuse to display any skins on the vote page and just have a giant login box instead), we'll look to address that before voting begins on the Icons & WindowBlinds skins.
But logging in will remain a requirement. It's to prevent vote tampering/stuffing
This would be a very funny forums post if the original poster and the one replier were not serious. ![]()
I'll add a "Submit Vote For All" button later. Thanks for the idea :p
I'll take Zoomba's suggestion and just make the page display a message rather than redirecting. Someone asked me to try the redirect, and his thought process was "If I can't vote, I shouldn't be able to see the page nor the fact that voting is even there." It's the same reason why the "Vote Now" button disappears when not logged in. Guess that didn't work out too well, so I'll revert back to the way it was and make some modifications.
I am more than open to suggestions. I believe I've already implemented a few some people have made, but as you can see from the message above, some suggestions don't work as well as others. ![]()

@ Andrew: You should take care to note the response your post got from vStyler and zoomba and compare it to Gunslingerbara's response to TheMasterBaron's post.
I think you might attract positive results with a post designed to generate thought and enthusiasm rather than anger and disdain.
Just my 2 cents.
