I used to play P&P too. And no, I'm not that old

Awesome games, the NWN series. I felt Mask of the Betrayer paid good homage to Planescape: Torment as far as the story/feel went, and Storm of Zehir should bring it closer to Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale

Needless to say, I'm having trouble not leaving work early.

At least we are patient, that's a good thing. In the other hand i think SD and IC gonna be more frustrating for sure. Imagine you have to tell rage gamers that they have to wait another day, that's gonna be scary for them too

Yeah. At least IC is in Canada, so they probably figure most people probably aren't crazy enough to cross the border. And SD is in Michigan, so they have Robocop.

@Stardock: Please build some kind of P2P mechanism into Impulse! Come on, do you really see any benefit in distributing downloads (the 1.1 patch might be around 250MB, but how big will Entrenchment be???) centralized?

The problem with P2P is that it can not provide a consistent and uniform experience.  Some days you may get a great dl rate, other times it may suck.  Then there's the problem of ISPs doing traffic shaping on P2P traffic, or blocking it completely.

It's generally a bad idea to pin distribution of major content to a service you yourself don't control

It is a good thing this is not an air freight company the delays would put them out of business.

I'll take a short delay if you really promise that it will be worth it   So far it hase been worth it.

If you never have trouble paying the full bill on time, you'll never pay any extra money besides what you spent. Credit card companies make all the money on charging interest for those who don't pay on time

That's my point!  (I. E. between x-mas shopping, entrenchment, and a few other things I'm not in a position to buy it... not really ... though I *could* always put off x-mas shopping until next paycheck, and sipmly feel stupid if I run into one of those 'oh, so-and-so has just GOT to love this' items.... )

Actually, credit card companies make a lot of money on the purchase itself. Its not that well known outside of retail, but if you buy $100 worth of stuff on a VISA, the store only gets $97. Up in Canada as a result of that its quite common to see stores take debit (bank ATM) cards, but not credit cards, since the fees are lower. (We also have stores that charge you a 3% fee to use a credit card, to make up the difference.)

The bad thing about it is with those "rewards" cards the credit card companies put out that offer rewards but no fees. Those actually charge the stores a higher fee, so they only get $96 instead. Its quite unfair to the store, actually. They're paying for your rewards out of their profit margin while VISA pockets the difference.

Does not matter, I am and IT Pro also and stable is better than a deliver date. Take as much time as needed to make it stable.

well at least it come out tomorrow, instead of 20 years from now.

Ah well, at least I don't have anything to do either today or tomorrow and thus the wait can be grinded through.

I dont know if this question has been answered or not, but in australian terms from you guys in the us what time is the server going to come back online i know now its being delayed and im not sure if i like the update to impuse or not but its different lol, will it be am or pm time roughly when the servers get turned on again your way wedsday time meaning its thirsday here or even friday since we are so far ahead with time ?

no, because entrichment and the 1.1 full patch for regulars will come out same say, just depends on if you wish to play your enhanced version with maybe some bugs still in it since it is beta of the entrichment addon and people like my self will have to test it, willingly. I also dont know if there will be a server button on sins beta to beable to play agesnt regular players since the beta is only limited for the few who brought the game before release date.

They have said that Entrenchment will be coming out AFTER the patch. They also said if you play a game against people without the expansion, you don't get the expansion functionality...

So my question still stands - will upgrading to the beta mean there is less to update for 1.1 and therefore can someone download the beta now to shave time off of getting 1.1???
