Impulse Phase 2 has gone into beta.

To get it, make sure you have the latest version (just open up Impulse).

Then go to preferences by clicking on the Stardock orb and choose "use Impulse betas" to get access to the latest/greatest editions.

NOTE: The beta build removes the Impulse dock. We are going to release the Impulse dock as a free download later this week. This way, people who don't want the dock don't have to deal with it and the people who want it can get it.

I downloaded it but it doesn't look any different than the version I had a while ago, also my Chat doesn't have a sidebar with names in it. Hmm.

hmm, i see Supreme commander in that lil picture.. i have that game but doesnt show up no my impulse >.>  do i have to add it or anything???

I still miss the ability to drag/move certain items from one tab to another. E.g I have moved the MyColors-suites to another tab so they don't clogg-up the 'Desktop'-tab. This was only possible by dragging the items from within the Impulse-dock to the newly created tab. With the dock gone, this is no longer possible.

It will only show in Impulse if you purchased it from Impulse.  It will not detect your retail installation.

Only 'problem' here, is that the 'History' button doesn't work... as mentioned earlier.

I also like to see the changes before downloading any updates.

Ok i got mine to work simply by deleting the original installation and then reinstalling the program.

All seems to work ok now :)

Looking much better.  However....

I cannot understand for the life of my why these applications are still seperated into "pages".   First I have to go to Games, then Strategy, then Page 1 of 10 !!!???

This is a LOCAL application, it has the ability to scroll through vast amounts of items.  If you insist on making the UI as clumsy as a "Super Cool AJAX Web 2.0 Website"....then why not just make it a website?

I'll keep an eye out for it.  Will it show up as 'available' Impulse?  And please say it will be independently configurable, can be displayed with small or large icons (sized to fit), can be toggled between icon+text or icon only and can be docked to any edge.  Other than that, I don't expect much. :d

Impulse Dock:

Its a free registration... just click "Add to Account" with your account email address, load up Impulse and the Impulse Dock will be available for download in the "My Desktop" area. After installing, the next time you load Impulse you'll see a "minimize to dock" button in Impulse again, or just run it at any time to have it come up.

Wrong, Make a shortcut to the retail version of Supreme Commander then drag the Icon into the Games tab in Impulse. There you go.

It may be running but you cant see it. Try a few things.  Right click its tab and try to maximize or restore. Go to the task manager and try switching to the program. If that doesnt work find it in the program list and shut it down, then try to open it again. This happens to me once in a while.

What do you mean?  Always on top or hidden?  If hidden have it open when windows are maximized?

 

Try playing with the autohide and edge activation options (by right clicking)
