BMP or JPG?

What to save?

Got a small question about wallpapers i always save them in jpg cause the file is smaller.
Quality is of jpg and bmp are the same or almost the same.
but why(if you do it at all) do you save a wallpaper in bmp what are the advantages?

Cheers,

Use jpg.  There is no good reason to use a bmp in this day and age.

Use Jpg.

Yep use Jpg for both. If you must use a bmp... zip it first.. as this compresses the filesize.

Yeah, I've been uploading .bmp, then teddybearcholla:inlove:   told me I could use JPGX| I wish it had said that where it says BMP.ZIPX|

Welcome to the club:grin: , it's good to know now though, that we don't need to upload huge .bmp files :)

generally i save my wallpaper creations as .jpg files, if i really want to retain the data embedded within the file for very lossless quality i go with .png, its a much larger file format sometimes 2 or 3 times the .jpg size, but if you want to maintain the quality i find it the best to go with.

i havent really used .bmp much or ever for that matter, so i cant speak directly to the quality it retains, i found a great article after a lil googling, it gives some great detail on file formats (JPG, GIF, TIFF, PNG, BMP) heck! even i learned a bit and is definately worth the read, with some really great examples as well..
