Windows 7

People wonder about the name.

Why is Windows 7 named "Windows 7"?

Counting client releases of Windows NT, not counting x.xx releases:

Windows NT 3.1 (1)

Windows NT 3.5 (2)

Windows NT 4.0 (3)

Windows 2000 (4)

Windows XP (5)

Windows Vista (6)

Windows 7

Not even Microsoft managed to explain it.

Maybe they plan of claiming that the economy is hurting them and that they need a bailout to come up with a more original name for the next version of Windows.

From what I understand, Vista's internal name was Windows 6, and code named Vienna. Windows 7 is the same kind of internal number that Windows 6 was to Vista, so don't be too surprised if they end up calling it something else....they just might.

I think they did this:

Windows 3.1 = 1

Windows 95 = 2

Windows 98 = 3

Windows 2000 (or NT, whatever) = 4

Windows XP = 5

Windows Vista = 6

They said it was the 7th big Windows release, not the 7th NT release, so...

By the way, i'm not sure of this :|
