Toolbar Icons....HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello out there, I have a major problem here, all my themes that I have bought or been given by Stardock, none of them will show up the toolbar icons, all I get is fuzzy blocks, that is if I apply from My Colors or from windowblinds, I have submitted a ticket and they have given me two different options on two different occasions, I have tried both and both failed, I don't know if they are still trying, I don't want to badmouth anyone, but I need some help badly, as I say I'm sitting here with 19 themes that I can't use, is there anyone out there had similar problems and maybe knows what I can do, cos what little hair I've got I'm pulling out everytime I try and use one of these themes, I don't want to go the route of money back, cos all the themes I've bought I want.....so please can somebody help me

I have one of the NHL themes, it has no toolbar icons, as I think is the case with most MyColors themes. In order to have the default MS toolbar icons apply and not have encrypted images I have to open WB config and in toolbar icon section select default MS icons then apply the theme. If you have already had a theme applied I think a reboot may also be needed ( will test and post back ).There was one update forget if it was MyColors or WB where the setting for toolbar icons did not matter but alas the next update messed it up again.

To me it seems there is an issue/conflict between WB and MyColors as to how they handle toolbar icons.

It was not a reboot that was needed, in toolbar icons section you must also check Always use the toolbar icon set selected below.

This is the only way it will apply the default MS icons now. It is a pain to then have to go back to my normal settings when wanting to apply a WB theme that has toolbar icons.

Zubaz this was the first one:

Hello,

Try removing MyColors, WindowBlinds, and IconPackager completely with the following removal tool:

http://sd.stardock.com/mike/apps/odnt_zapper.exe

once you do this, reboot. Once rebooted, install MyColors first, followed by IconPackager, followed by WindowBlinds. The process must follow that order.

The static you are seeing is because MyColors themes use encryption due to the fact that many of them are protected brands/sports teams, etc.

Please let me know whether this resolves your problem or if you have any additional questions.

This was the second one:

Hello,

Can you please follow this link in Internet Explorer:

http://sd.stardock.com/mike/apps/enumerate_startup.bat

save the file, run it, and attach the log file (named startup.log) it generates on the desktop to a return e-mail? Can you also please go to Start->Run(or Start Search in Vista) and type 'dxdiag' and hit enter. Once everything loads, please click the "Save all information" button and attach the output file (called DxDiag.txt) in a return email.

Thanks,

This was the third one

Hello,

You'll want to go into regedit and check the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\ObjectDesktop\IconPackager\Path

If you just have MyColors installed this value should be:

C:\Program Files\Stardock\MyColors

If you have both MyColors and IconPackager installed (which is most likely), the value should be:

C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\IconPackager

Please let me know whether this resolves your problem or if you have any additional questions.

This was the fourth one:

Hello,

Make sure MyColors and WindowBlinds are installed correctly by verifying them with Impusle. To do so:

-Launch Impulse. Right click on the entry for the application and choose "Verify application"
-Impulse will check the integrity of the installed application. You should be given feedback as to the state of the installed application.
-If errors are found, an update should be made available in Impulse. You'll need to select another application and then reselect the original application to run the update.
(NOTE: This is a UI bug in Impulse, that should be fixed in a future update)
-Once the update completes, reboot your PC and try running the application again.

Please let me know whether this resolves your problem or if you have any additional questions.

I have tried all 4 with no results, allthough by no means am I blaming the tech guys whatsoever, I know software, sometimes it does its own thing Ha Ha...Its just so frustrating Zubaz.

One of the other questions was , what OS....it is windowsXP Pro SP3

The version of MC is:

MyColors Version: 2.50.234

Windows XP (Professional) Build: 2600 Service Pack 3

Wblind.dll 06/09/2008 11:59:24 458314
Wbsrv.dll Unknown
Thememgr.exe  07/17/2008 12:37:08 647376
Wbload.exe 07/05/2008 16:08:02 383488
Wbload.dll 05/06/2008 21:25:45 58616
Screen.exe Unknown

The other question was about which themes, it is all the themes that do it, not one will show the toolbar icons

Please Zubaz tell me you got a solution, I want to use them.....

Please Zubaz tell me you got a solution,

Please continue working with [email protected] as they will get it resolved for you. It appears that support is troubleshooting your issue and they need to hear from you on how this is progressing.

While I agree with Hanker you never know what the community will come up with and more eyes can't hurt.

Hi all> I,m new to all of this too but I have had a similar problem Im running XP w/SP2 and I found that I have to chose which app. to run WB or My Colors, for some reason on my system they dont get along well(just like kids) any way once I dumped WB my colors worked well, then I dumped My Colors and WB work fine. My personal opinion is that WB suits me better and offers more versatility, but hthats an opinion from a newby. hope this helps. By the way stardock does have very good support and they have a phone # on there support page .their hours are central time zone and there from 08:00 to 16:00 hr Mon. thru Fri.

keep smiling and keep skinning its how we learn.

I had and have this color static issue however I corrected it partially by going to Control Panel/display/appearance/  Then I unchecked "Force coloring support" and "make toolbar options 'flat'"..  I think the this is what fixed it on the main windows but it didn't fix it within the window blinds preview...  I still don't have the animation on the start window and I'm not seeing the watermark on the window area... What was the solution?

Hello Zubaz, sorry it took so long to get back to you, the solution was doing all of the above support options what support sent  to me, but I think it was the forth one that actually kicked everything into place, after doing the fourth solution, I rebooted, then went into My Colors and tried to apply a skin, no joy still the same fuzzy blocks, so I thought Oh no here we go again, but then I went into Windowblinds, the configuration panel, and I changed the settings in the toolbar section, from always use these toolbar icons selected, to use the toolbar icons selected if the skin comes with predefined icons, clicked apply and bingo it worked.....I did try this after every solution Surpport sent me though, but it seemed to work only after the fourth support solution combined with me changing the toolbar settings in Windowblinds.....I still think though that it was a combination of all four plus me changing the toolbar settings........but if somebody had to ask me how to fix it, I would do solution No.4 coupled with the changing of toolbar settings to try and fix it first, if that doesn't work, then I would suggest all 4 solutions and change toolbar settings in the Windowblinds configuration panel.......does that make sense......for those of you who are reading this statement for the first time, the four support solutions I am talking about are listed in reply No. 4............There you go Zubaz, if I wasn't confused before, I certainly am now Ha Ha....Once again Zubaz and the team, and the community thanks for all the awesome help, thank you k6 k6 k6 k6 k6
