Hosting Issue Resovled

Fixing your router so you can host

Hi Everyone,

Now one of the biggest issue people have when going to play online is that there are little to no games being hosted.  Then when you go to host, because by some off chance there are people waiting for a game, no one can join you.  They all get disconnected and "drop from server".  This can easily be fix.  the Monk has come out this a small booklet that helps you fix the issue and that issue is your router.

Unfortunately, public routers are not as nice as the privet sector.  This can lead to the public having issues with being able to use certain features of their computer and software.  the Monk has overcome that issue to help us out with that so that we can host games and have fun with one of the biggest RTS games Sins of a Solar Empire.

This is the link you will want to go to, http://themonk.ca/Monk/Networking_and_Sins_by_the_Monk.pdf.  Follow everything that the Monk has laid out and you will be hosting games.  Now I did have to alter one thing from what the Monk did but, it was very minor.  Instead of 192.168.0.1, I did 192.168.1.1 to get access to my router.  Now if you get stuck just use the forum.  There is always someone who knows something that can help you out.  Gl Hf and hope to see you out there.

Glad to hear about another "happy-hoster"

The new patch (version 1.1) which the SINS devs have been hard at work on (and which is currently in it's 3rd BETA state) employs "tunneling netcode" which will make my guide obsolete.  You can download this new version (beta) using IMPULSE (www.impulsedriven.com ) and once logged-in make sure you click the BLUE ORB (upper left) and click "show pre-release versions".

By the way,  Is it just me or is your OP all typed in black?  On the sins forums it looks like there is nothing typed in your post.  Just a heads-up.

thanks,

the Monk

EDIT:  I see you fixed the colour....hehe
