Using Strategy From Outside of the Game
Has anyone ever drawn upon real world examples or writings of military strategy to win a game of Sins? Such as "On War" by Carl von Clausewitz or "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu?

Yea man, divided and conquer, counter spying, and cultural warfare, Sins got it all, baby. You will be scratching your head when I slice and dice your empire into tiny little pieces. Wahahaha...
Chapter 1 - We work out who the good players are, who the allies are etc...
Chapter 2 - Get my economy functioning
Chapter 3 - Build a mixed fleet
Chapter 4 - Build defensive strucutres where required and scout to know if you have an opportunity to attack
Chapter 5 - Work out what to build and when
Chapter 6 - Work out where they are weakest
Chapter 7 - Move my ships around (including within a battle)
Chapter 8 - Make sure I don't spam a single unit so I can adapt
Chapter 9 - Scout the enemy and pick where to attack
Chapter 10 - Work out the lay of the land (repair bays etc...)
Chapter 11 - ??? (This one got me)
Chapter 12 - work out which weapons to use on various targets
Chapter 13 - Scout and get the scouting techs
Small map?
Part A- Build loads of scouts. Find the enemy.
Part B- Cripple his industry, research, and mining.
Part C- Gain massive superiority.
Part D- Begin the slaughter.
"Know yourself and your enemy and you can go into 100 battles without disaster." -> Scout your enemy.
"The victorious warrior win first the go to war, while the defeated warrior go to war first then seek to win." -> If you can not win, retreat and regroup.
“Let your plans be dark and as impenetratable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.” -> Do not let the enemy scout you and when you attack do not stop until you are victorious.
"The Art Of War" - Sun Tzu
So the second rule is retreat and the third is do not retreat.
*Is confused*
Retreat if you can't win, fight if you can win, stupid.
*Is confused*
If you cannot win, then do not attack.
If you attack and lose, the enemy will not let you retreat (Phase Jump Inhibitor).
Do, or do not. There is no 'try.'

Personally I play by the mantra. If they're dead they can't hurt you ![]()
"He who plays against human opponents online instead of mindless AI becomes a more competitive player." -- unknown.
"A real soldier is not a tank with a supercomputer, but a Marine and his rifle!"---- unknown
The problem is a marine with a rifle tends to get blown to bits by tanks with supercomputers.
Pretty Funny Kyrein. I'll pit my Javelin against your tank with supercomputers any day of the week.
Bring out the MGs!
And explain to me where anybody mentioned Javelins.
I'm guessing he is talking about this kind
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/javelin.htm
Sort of weapon a soldier (marine) would carry
I know what he's talking about.
It was specifically stated "a marine and his rifle".
No anti-tank missile launcher in that phrase.
Anti-Tank Missile Launcher equipped with Supercomputer a Marine would carry with his rifle.
Does that make sense? I THINK NOT!
What? There arent any?![]()
