Sins of a Solar Empire v1.1 BETA 3 Change Log

Coming to an Impulse client near you...

We're in the home stretch of the Sins of a Solar Empire v1.1 testing!  We're planning to release BETA 3 on Thursday (10/9/08) and follow-up with one more update later this month before calling v1.1 final.

Here's the changelog for BETA 3:

Note: It's named v1.096 instead of 1.1 beta 3 because the Games for Windows version tools won't let us use letters. This was a common question and I agree its confusing. I would change it if I could :P -Blair

-Changed pirate raid target selection so that it is guaranteed to always pick from among the players with the most bounty on them.
-Fixed bug where ships in fleets would try and return to their rally point. Thanks to everyone on the forums involved with tracking this down.

-Fixed bug in normal calculations for meshes that don't have them provided.

Could you clarify this? What if somebody increased the bounty on another player, 0.5seconds after the raid launched? Will it go to the new person with the highest bounty?

Before the fix, some changes in players' bounty that resulted in a tie for highest bounty didn't force a re-evaluation of the raid target, meaning the first player with the highest bounty was always raided. In the new patch, any of the players who are tied for highest bounty could be the unlucky target.

Why do people hate Impulse?  It works great for me and I love it.

Also, why do we need a 4th beta?  It looks like the bugs are pretty much gone now.  With this beta, the rest of the bugs will be fleshed out and it will be ready for prime time.

when the game loads, I can't see the intromovie anymore...

The last beta is going to add some new Impulse functionality for multiplayer games (if all goes well). It should be a fairly quick turnaround and we're aiming to have v1.1 final out this month. :)

BTW - V1.1 Beta 3 is now available. :D

This couldn't possibly mean that if you host a game with a custom map, impulse will download the needed files?  Dude, you have to stop being vague and just tell us...Annatar11 is about to have a siezure.

Btw, looks like I was right. If you click Sins in My Games, you'll see a "View All Multiplayer Games" link in its box on the right. Clicking it will take you to the Impulse MP matchmaker. It won't find any games, but you'll notice Sins is selected in the drop-down, and if you click Create it'll launch the game..

My game version number is still 1.09b[b].047 and it won't auto-update. How do I update to v1.1 Beta 3?

My friend and I tried played a couple 2v2 games with the new beta.  Good stuff!  Hard AI is actually somewhat hard now, new graphics look nice, games ran and play smoothly without crashes or noticable bugs, LRM spam can be stopped now.

 

The new quick-market bar is fantastic as well.  Great work, and fantastic support for the game Ironclad!  Looking forward to being able to play on ICO, and the the first expansion!

Im kinda intrested in tryin the beta, i went to impulse and i might as well be lookin for bin laden. where on impulse is there anything to DL that doesnt cost $ (the beta for example)
