Wincustomize is soooooo slloowwww

Does anyone know why WC not loading for me.  After loading the main page (and yes I am logged on) I click on anyone of the gallery pages and they refuse to load up.  All I get is the "no preview" image.

Not having a problem here, using IE8.

You should have seen it a few years ago!  :D

Seriously, what browser, what plugins/extensions are you using, etc.?

There are site upgrades and the like going on at the moment, so you may experience some slowness at times.  I have had it happen from time to time as well, but it isn't often and it usually is corrected/comes good after a little while, so I find it's a matter of being patient, finding something else to look at in the meantime and trying again later.

I don't think it matters a great deal which browser you are using, either. I have switched from FF to IE and even Opera and found little or no difference... it is a site issue that they are working on and should have resolved soon

I was just going to ask about this very subject.....

It is slow indeed! I just noted a recordsetting 3.13 minutes for loading the next page in a string!

The "best" to day is a little over 30 seconds. Makes it more than merely irritating, when you want to schroll through 118 pages...

egamborg you might try closing out you browser and clean out the cookies and browser history.  A lot ot times this will help.

Yep the galleries, libraries and home page are crawling today.  The Forums are working great!

I think someone at SD said the servers got Goo'd up.

hehe,

well  I use maxthon as my default and it is the slowest and worse on this site by far, but even with IE8 and Firefox3, I experience lots of hang-ups with them.  IE8 is bare (no plug-in).  It just seems like this site is getting to be like at&t, real laggy and if it gets any worse the experience will start to be miserable.  I think think its a graphic loading or uploading isssue myself because that is what is last when page is completely loaded.

Actually this is the worst i have seen it, (though there have a been a few times worse), but this is constant,  and I have been since (well, close too anyhow) day 1

Hey Goo, I hope that when you uploaded the other day, a used hanky didn't accidentally get uploaded as well... that'll do it every time.

O:)

The hold up is on the messageboard, I get "transferring data from web.stardock.net" and it just hangs.

As long as the page is there you can just click the stop button and the page works fine ;)

Forums are great, but the gallaries, etc. are a bit slow.  Better than they have been though.  Using ie7.

extremely slow, why is this taking so long to fix?

It has been unbearably slow the last few days to the point where I had to force IE to close because it froze due to a site loading slow.

I think it has always been very slow for me, probably the slowest website i've ever seen (and i have a 30 mega Internet connection  ...)

By far the slowest site for everything from browsing to downloads. I've followed all the suggestions, opened a support ticket, and been told there's nothing their engineers can do at this time. Very frustrating. Great site for programs and content, but the access and speeds defeats the usefullness so that I just give up and leave the site. And this has been going on for several months for me.

well it seems like i am not the only one who is experiencing this. maybe it will get some real notice.

Yup, I noticed it!  I noticed things are moving a bit slower in the forums today... but that's orright, I don't read real fast and my one finger typing's no quicker.

Yeah, Stardock is going to implement Braille and extra large fonts for old farts who, with age, have become more visually impaired.  It means of course that the forums may become even slower, on two counts - braille and extra large fonts taking longer to load, old farts taking longer to read the pages cos now they think they can manage it without their glasses - but Stardock still say that this is a good thing.

Personally, I think old geezers with failing eyesight have no business coming to a skinning site anyhow. I mean, what's an old fart with failing eyesight gonna get out of it anyhow?  Oh well, I'm off to the WB gallery.....

***Hey hon.... have you seen my (binocular strength) glasses anywhere......***

O:) :-"

An eternity to get a page loaded ...

And as i think part of us are paying to be connected ...

Don't forget that they are migrating to a new server this week so things at times can and will be a little slow. :sun:

Using Opera 9.6 loading goes faster than FF3 and ie7. Very fast indeed. This is confounded at times by site issues which will (HG_E and others assure us) be resolved fairly soon.

Starker's browser issue is that it's fuelled by curried cabbage, a well known "accelerator" and the fact he has a monster computer he calls the "Jolly Roger" for some bizzare Australian reason.

:-" ;)
