Galactic Civilizations II: v2.0 Preview Part 2

Galactic Civilizations II: v2.0 is a free update for Galactic Civilizations II players. It's an expansion pack's worth of updates designed to address all kinds of suggestions players have given us.

Plus, we said that Twilight of the Arnor was going to be the last expansion pack for GalCiv II and since we're giving this away, it's technically not an expansion pack...so...we...er...made good on our promise that there'd be no more expansion packs after Twilight by giving this expansion er update away for free.

 

Part II: Brave New Galaxy...

One of the first things players will notice about v2.0 is the continuing graphical polish to Galactic Civilizations II.

As we come across outdated graphics,we replace create new models and render them up to place in-game.

Lots of little tweaks across the board to diplomacy and elsewhere.

One thing I would like to request, for GC:III (Surely not for this one) - SVG graphics support.

png is certainly not bad, but I think svg graphics for a lot of functions would be *way* nicer across varied resolutions.

I don't think that's the case. But what I was referring to was more of the planetary improvements that had old graphics have gotten updated.

Frogboy, you mention the 2.0 update for (all?) GalCiv2 players.

I have GalCiv 2 - the original version, as in Dread Lords. I still play the game, so I guess I am still (or should be?) considered a 'player'.

Is this an update for me, as well? Or just an update for the players of the expansion packs?

If the former, what does it update for DL? If the latter - you should choose your words more carefully. Because from what has been told recently, backporting anything to DL is simply too much trouble.

What are you talking about? I've played plenty of games where they were the biggest threat! (Then again, I had wiped out the Drengin, the Yor, the Drax, the Terrans, the Iconans and the Altairians...Hmm...)
