Programs that start with login in.

Like a few of the members here I run a lot of the custimization software from Stardock.  Just couldn't do without them.

I have always wondered though which ones I should have start automatically with login in to the computer.  Now I'm not talking about WindowBlinds or CursorFX and Icon Packager.  I want them to start or I wouldn't be able to look at the screen.  :O

I'm talking about programs like ObjecDock Plus, ObjectBar, DesktopX Widgets/Objects, SVD and WindowFX.  Should I set them to automatically start or start them after bootup and login?  The obvious answer is login would go faster.  Is there another reason?  Or does it really not matter? :S

I'm on an XP Home system running a P4 2.6 CPU with 2gb of ram.

Well, if you start them every time anyway then you're not really saving much, are you? :p

I have OD run on startup simply because it's an integral part of my UI. But then it doesn't make much difference, as I just put my machine into low-power standby rather than shutting it off completely, only doing full reboots when necessary.

What I try to do is build a desktop that works for me, one that has the appearance I want and functions.  I use to always have WB IP and DX going so they would always be in startup.

Lately I've had WB IP and OD+ to build my current desktop.  So, now my startup is WB IP and OD+.  I will sometimes start a widget or Sysmetrix but, since I'm not always using them they don't get auto-started.

For me it's auto-start whatever I need for my current desktop theme. :sun:
