Setting up a SINGLE PLAYER game in TPM Express

I wish everything was so easy!

I've seen a few folks in IRC wanting to know how to set up a game and play against the AI.

This is my quick and dirty attempt to help out.

  1. Start the game (no image needed for this I hope)
  2. Click the play button
  3. Log in (or create an account)
  4. Choose create Game
  5. Name your game (if you want)
  6. Click "Create"
  7. Choose your candidate
  8. Click "Ready"
  9. Name you game (Give it a password if you want to play with someone specific)
  10. Click Continue
  11. If you want to paly againt the AI, check the box; otherwise
  12. Wait for someone to join your game
  13. Click "Ready"
  14. When the indicator turns from "Wating" to "Start" click it

Here's a TPM express question to go along with that one (I eventually figured the AI game out on my own, but I thought it was ridiculously complicated, especially since a "quick play" button was referenced in the manual ...) anyway: How the hell do you save a game in Express? If I leave out of the game to the main menu, the "resume game" button is highlighted, but if I quit and go back later, the button is greyed out. Do you have to play through all 21 weeks (or however many you set it for) in one go without quitting the game?

The quick play button is in the full version, as is the ability to save/load a game, and make the game longer than 21 weeks, among other things (such as campaign play, different maps to play on, randomization, etc...)

Yeah. That's kind of what I figured. I know it's free, and I shouldn't be complaining, but in the list that compares the features between the free and pay versions, it'd be nice if they listed "save and load games" as one that's not in the free version.

I know asking for anything on the demo version isn't right, but I'm unable to use 'icon view' to play the game since it must be disabled for multiplayer mode.

My poor Nvidia FX 5200 (economy POS) is having ennough of a hard time in game...I'd like to reduce the load even more.  Perhaps PM2008 will get me to pick up a new video card just so I can continue into the full version...

Maybe in a future update.
