"Trying to connect..."

I'm just trying to host a LAN game, but I get this...

I start the game, go to Multiplayer -> LAN -> Host Game, and this shows up and never goes away until I click Abort. I restore all the options back to default, but to no avail. What can I do to solve this?

Thanks.

Hmm, that's very odd. Make sure you have a profile, but I think it's an issue with your connection.

OMG WTB edit.

Forgot to say this, the first thing I said is unclear without it, but I think your computer thinks it's on a lan, but isn't. Very strange.

I tried reinstalling the game, but that changed nothing. I checked my network connections in the control panel, but I only have one network connection, so I know there's no conflicts there. I also tried manually setting a port, then opening that port on my router, but again, it made no difference. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. I would like to give this game a try...

I have the exact same problem.  I posted it earlier.  I'm running it on Vista x64, which I think is the problem cuz I was ablel to get it to run on XP on same computer.

So the question is... are you running on Vista x64, too?

I'm running on XP Pro SP3. (I use Vista for work b/c it has so may issues when it comes to gaming.)

I had the same problem.

What solved it for me, and a couple other people, was to make an extra user profile in addition to your own (so that there are at least two profiles).

Hopefully this will solve it.  Good luck!

That did it!

I also realized that when the game starts, it sets the active profile to "Default" All I did was set my profile as the active one and it worked.

Thank for the help.
