Wouldn't install after download

A quick note about the beta installation from Stardock.

FYI I'm in Windows Vista 64

 

So I successfully installed Impulse, and clicked on the install button for the Demigod Beta. It downloaded the file, but when complete it didn't start the install. When I clicked on the install again, it downloaded the file again. Eventually I clicked on the Impulse orb and the rerun the archive button (or whatever that thing is) and it installed the game fine.

Apologies if this has been mentioned already.

On another note, I loved the 30 mins I played last night! Will be spending ATLEAST 2 hours on it tonight, and will come back with detailed testing feedback.

In my case, Impulse downloaded the 611 MB data fast & fine ... but it was the 2nd phase (file extraction) that hung : it crashed my C:\ drive on 2 occasions (had to reboot).

In all my years of gaming, it had NEVER happened that a file-extraction process had caused a hard-drive crash.

It worked on my third attempt, because I used the WindowsXP Task Manager to manually close all the background processes I was allowed to. Maybe "something" was competing/interfering on the C:\ drive with the file-extraction programme.

I hope this info will help someone : manually kill background processes with the WTM if the installation of any game does not succeeded in reaching its completion.
