Crash due to monitor refresh rate set above 60 hz

I had a crash from the get-go: I believe it was the "unable to start Direct3D" one.  I use Refreshforce to push my CRT to a refresh rate of 85 hz in games.  Once I set this to back to 60 hz at 1024x768 the game started fine.  Once in game, I could choose my desired rate of 1280x960x85 hz, and the game continued to work.

If I recall I had a similar problem when I first ran Suprememe Commander.  I was able to circumvent the issue by running that in safe mode, then choosing 1280x960x85.

Gas Powered: please change your coding to take into account that not everybody is running refresh rates of 60 hz.  Thanks!

Works for me at 1280x1024 at 70Hz.  Please give your full system specs.

The game starts itself at 1024x768 by 60 hz.  So if your monitor is not set to accept that resolution and refresh, when you try to run the game immediately after install, it will crash.  With reforce.exe I have 1024x768 forced to 85.  Once I bumped it down to 60, then the game would start.  Once the game started, then I could easily see within the game the other specific resolutions and refresh rates set up via reforce.exe.  I could then change to my desired 1280x960x85.

Hmm, that may have been my problem yesterday when I was running the latest NVIDIA beta drivers.  I thought I fixed it by reverting to the latest non-beta drivers, but rolling NVIDIA drivers back kills your RefreshForce settings, so maybe that's all it was.  It wouldn't be the first time my RefreshForce/RefreshLock combo has stopped a game from running at first.
