Trying to connect...

Never getting past it

So I downloaded and installed the demigod beta, it's running right now but I'm trying to play it and I can't.  I'm going through: Run the game; Multiplayer - LAN; Host Game.

I get the the create LAN game page and make a name and then when I click HOST GAME it just says "Trying to connect..." and stays like that for however long (I've waited 10 minutes at most) until I click Abort Connect.  Ports are set to auto, I've tried some manual ports.  No idea what's going on here so help is appreciated.

On my desktop connected over wireless to a Linksys router (WRT54GL running standard firmware - it's new).  It's entirely possible I'm just stupid and missing some detail, I don't do LAN gamming much.

Any help?

 

/edit/ Should note that I've tried disabling the firewalls on both my machine and the router to no luck

I too am getting this same error.  Do i have to install it on my other computer and try to connect?

 

I am using a linksys router.   DHCP, Sins of a solar empire works great on this computer.

Solution!

 

I created another player profile and it worked!

I am playing on a p4 3.2 ghz with a geforce 6800
