Is Reboot expansion compatible with English DVD version of SR2 ?

I'm in France, so I did get the English DVD version of SR2.

Now I'd like to get the expansion - well, as I cannot buy it I'll have it offered by an US friend - but I'm not sure it's compatible. My DVD of SR2 has StarFarce protection (won't talk about nocd, no I won't), so I'm rather wary...

Did someone here successfully installed SR2:R over English version ?

Thanks !

We've tested updating over the retail version and it works, but if not we'll workaround the problem. :)

Cool !

But but .. how exactly can I be offered a downloaded game ? Is there some "gift" option available to the buyer so I can download myself, or has the buyer to burn be a CD ?? I suppose/hope there's still no crappy DRM things on Impulse (I didn't use it yet), so maybe it's not a big problem ?

Please advise !

There is a gift option. You simply select that the shipping address/person and billing address/person are not the same.

That way, you can download the game yourself.

Impulse does not use crappy DRM, so you'll have no trouble with that.

How, pray tell, did it work?

Didn't work when *I* tried it.

Didn't work when I read the advice in this forum to download the hundreds-of-megs game AGAIN and install it over my old SR2 installation. Yay, hours and hours wasted, my bandwidth allotment down to dial-up levels for the next two weeks, and my money completely down the drain!

I hope you "workaround" the problem quickly, because my patience is pretty much running on fumes.

Hmm, I was happy but now, Caprion, you make me wonder...What SR2 version do you have exactly ?

Good news ! I was offered the game, and it installed and works without any problem over my English version SR2 !

I just had to select the SR2 folder when installing, the Impulse setup program didn't find it alone.

I also was able to dump my no-cd version, as thanks Stardock, there's no more nasty DRM ! O:)

make sure and pickup Netriak's modified exe found on these forums.  It fixes some significant bugs with some of the new Reloaded features of the game.

Sure bman, already did that ! ^_^

to TGN team : It'll be cool t have the posts with the fixed exe pinned because they're rather hard to find.

Actually we just got an official fix in from the developers which we'll be putting on Impulse soon. :)

Everyone seems to be able to get this to work but me.  I bought the DVD (English) version a long time ago, and I just purchased Reboot on Impulse.  I'm running Vista x64.  Impulse finds the game when I tell it the directory but then it says that SR2 is not registered, would you like to register now?  But when i enter my serial from the printed manual it rejects it and says only serials from Stardock will be accepted.

Please help!  I can't seem to find a posting on my specific problem.  Am I just out of luck?  Did I need to purchase Complete?

Thanks in advance for replies!

Hi Folks,

I figured it out.  I had to:

1) Uninstall SR 2 (using control panel, programs and features)
2) Uninstall Reboot (using the impulse interface)
3) Reset impulse by clicking on the orb and going to Preferences, then clicking the "Reset "data.
4) Re-install SR 2 off the DVD
5) Restart-Impulse, let it update
6) Re-download Reboot by clicking install.  When it asks for a directory, make sure to select the directory I installed SR2 in step 4

... and it worked!  Thanks to the stardock person that recommended the orb reset
