Race selection on first start
Where is my choice?

As i bought GC2: Dread Lords yesterday, i wonder if i have the option to choose more than just one race on my first game.
Do i have to unlock the other races to play with?
Also i was not able to have more than 4 other races in my first game.
So, is it just me being dumb not being able to customize my game or do i need any cheat or savegame to unlock all options right from my first start.
To be honest, i don't want to play 3-4 smaller games before i can play my first game with all races in a huge galaxy.
Your help will be appreaciated.
