Profile page on impulsedriven.net. You probably need to create a blog (not that you need to use it, there just won't be a mumblefratz.impulsedriven.net until you do) there first to get one, though.
There's a bit more on WC but it seems the important stuff is disabled at present until the new system is completed.
Thanks but it doesn't quite seem the same, or anything close for that matter.
Agreed.
Anyway perhaps the new system Kryo mentions may give us something a bit more familiar. In his linked WC profile it listed something like this. But except for that it did seem to be only blog related stuff although I may be mistaken.
Blog = thread, it's all the same system. The disabled section of the WC stats page did have stuff about comments/replies in it.
Does the blacklist function work?
Does this really mean that we could blacklist someone and then they can't reply to our posts?
Hmm... very interesting.
I'm still not understanding a lot here. So I went and created my mumblefratz blog (I think) and on the Dashboard it says 39 articles, 1420 comments on my articles, written in 3 categories (GalCiv2?, OTF?, Impulse?) and 496 referrals from other sites. But then elsewhere it says I haven't posted any articles yet.
Any kind of instruction manual for this?
Is there a mechanism to be able to view recent posts in only categories I select?
Right now I'm just going to Impulsedriven directly with IE7. But if I can't choose categories with IE7 could I if I used Impulse?
If I can use Impulse to ignore the Impulse and Off Topic Forums then it suddenly becomes far more attractive to me.
That would be funny, using Impulse to ignore Impulse. Fitting.
That makes it sound like blog = userID and thread = article.

Well, more or less. I *think* the blacklist function is limited to the blog sites, but stats wise they are all the same.
One of the few divisions between blog posts and threads. AFAIK now that you have a blog though, any threads you create will be counted as blog articles, and will appear on mumblefratz.impulsedriven.net or mumblefratz.joeuser.com (depending on waht category you put tehm in).
Not any more than already possible with the forums, no (i.e., just going to the forums themselves rather than the overall recent list).
To clarify, when I said blog = thread I meant blog posts.
...and capitalism = freedom, and war = liberation...? is this what they call "newspeak"?
sorry, not helpful, i'm sure. just overly bored at work, and eager to get off.
I would expect that if I clicked on the GalCiv II category I would see the list of recent posts for the GalCiv II forum including any and all of its subforums. If it worked this way it would pretty much give me what I want but it doesn't. I only get the recent posts from the GalCiv II General subforum and I don't see any post from any of the 8 other subforums under GalCiv II.
Basically forums.galciv2.com is a total mess and getting worse on a daily basis. By that I mean I come specifically to forums.galciv2.com for content related to GalCiv2 but that's getting to be a smaller and smaller percentage of what's listed. It's less about a decline of GalCiv2 related threads than being about those threads being smothered by countless Impulse and OTF threads. And going to other "sites" (i.e. forums.stardock.com, or impulsedriven) is *way* worse.
I mean with all the work the web team is doing could they at least arrange it so that if you click on a single forum category (i.e. GalCiv II) that you could at least follow *all* of the threads in that forum and *all* lower sub-forums?
Another option is to simply eliminate the 9 subforums that are under GalCiv II and just have one big GalCiv II forum. That makes more sense to me. Why do we need the GalCiv II forum to be so fragmented? Eliminate the divisions and then folks that want just GalCiv2 can simply view just that forum. What could be simpler? I know that there are a lot of folks that agree with me.
I think the division of the GC2 forum is ok, it's just that an awful lot of cross-posting is going on lately - especially from the Impulse forum. And why is Political Machine 2008 here under strategy, when it clearly has (or should have) its own, completely separate forum?
I guess they figure the GC2ers that they don't run off(and they are running off quite a few right now) will start using/ migrating to these other products. I already own most of these other products and I still don't want to deal with their forums when coming here. This has been by far the best game based forum community I have seen, but now it seems they want to push us into the other forums with people that have totally different interests. That's not to mention all the things they keep breaking on this site. I mean hell, at least show an interest in trying to fix those things. In most professions, you break it you fix it or you'll be looking for a new job. Is this the image Stardock is trying to portray at this site? Six months of work arounds and broken basics does not give one a feeling of confidence in their QA.
Speaking of broken - is it my browser or are Metaverse medals gone?
They are indeed gone. BUT we now have these :
, to replace them. Just use your imagination. See? this means
the Yor is my favorite race.
