Direct2Drive version error

This could be a result of Direct2Drive's DRM system if they're using it on multiple files.

I have the Direct2Drive version of the original SR2, when I try to install Reboot from Impulse I get the following, if it is this "DRM" problem, what solution is there?:

If it's a DRM issue with D2D files, I'm not sure there is a great solution, but let's try to make sure it's not something more basic first.

When you went to install Reboot, did Impulse ask you to point it to your existing Space Rangers 2 installation? I'm trying to verify that the Reboot files were installed over your Space Rangers 2 files (as Reboot isn't a standalone expansion).

If we can't get it to work with the D2D files, if you can provide us with some proof of purchase, we can probably hook you up with the Complete version instead.

I also have the direct2drive version of space rangers 2 (which I am currently re-downloading and installing) so that I can point to it -> because impulse wont start downloading it w/o completing this step first.

Assuming that I do encounter the same error, what type of "proof of purchase" are you looking for? I tried to register the cd-key that d2d gave me w/ my stardock download manager, but it rejected it.

Whom should I contact / email about supplying my direct 2 drive space rangers 2 info to so that I could get hooked up with the 'complete version'?

I dont remember why I originally used d2d for space rangers, but I sure wish I hadn't because they dont have the reboot version available now (I would have just purchased from them because I sort of expected some sort of issues trying to install an expansion from a different site).

Un-F-ing-Believable...

So I got the error. I had tried to circumvent it by changing my resolution to 800x600 on my d2d pre-reboot version before I installed the impulse reboot version, but I got this error.

So, I uninstalled the game (impulse reboot first, then d2d), I figured I'd give it a shot leaving the original at 1024x768 resolution.

So I click the d2d file (1.2gb) and reinstall the original space rangers 2, run it, make sure res is 1024x768, no problem.

I then try to reinstall the impulse version, and lo and behold, for some INSANE reason the impulse version has to RE-DOWNLOAD???

Why in the world do you have to redownload the install file????

The old stardock worked flawlessly for me, I bought 6-8 games from you guys.. Why is impulse INSANE?

309east - Impulse updates the same way that SDC did.  The reason you're having issues is because your D2D version has DRM on multiple files. These do not match the ones on our server (which do not have DRM) and so Impulse needs to update them to match. This is not an Impulse failure, this is another example of why DRM sucks.

Please PM (or email) me proof-of-purchase for your SR2 purchase (receipt from D2D will be fine) and I'll hook you up with Complete instead.

To be clear, the reason I'm calling insanity is me not being able to access the 800MB install file I downloaded when I installed it the first time, and having to wait another couple of hours to download it a second time to re-install it.

I'm having the same issue but my base SR2 version is the Euro DVD release from gogamer.com:

Wow Yarlen, you talk a good game, but how is it good customer service to ignore a customers support ticket for 3 days..

FYI I did get an email from support Thu 8/14/08 3:58 PM supplying me with an Impulse/Stardock serial number for Space Rangers: Rise of the Dominators, I'm attempting to 'update' my direct2drive SR:D version as we speak.

I do appreciate the result, it was just frustrating to be contacted on Monday (after buying the game Saturday) then have no updates / response for three days.

So overall I'll certainly be buying from Stardock/Impulse again in the future.

  I opened a support ticket on Aug. 11 about this very same issue, explained it well enough, and they thought it was another problem.  I didn't get a reply back though for 2 days.  I also Pm'd Yarla from this thread (who asked people to PM her, right?) on Aug 13. and didn't receive a reply. 

  On top of the wonderful experience of having to constantly reinstall my direct2drive version, try to install the reboot version somehow, and have it destroy my space rangers 2 installation, I have found from various forums that this reboot release is severely bugged, so that if you ask about the new ships, the game crashes...If you do some of the new search features, half of the trading items don't show up on it. 

  There are user-made patch-hacks on this site that fix the problem...but what is going on when a fan-made executable hack is released before a patch from people with the source?  To be honest, the only reason I bought this was so that I could play the game in windowed mode...

  Well, at least every other part of Stardock is awesome.

Man Im having the same problems.

Installed D2D SR2, trying to install reboot through Impluse, and reboot just seems to break SR2, nothing happens at all after launching the executable.

Yarlen, I sent you D2D info if you think this is a D2D/Reboot compatibility issue. Anyone else having the same problems? I tried reinstalling both apps several times,
