If they were going to do anything about it I am sure they would have done it alredy

IMO a 'fix' to this would just be to have a set number of 'PQ points' for the relevant race (or the same amount for every race), and that way if this is done the PQ of the planets in the system is adjusted accordingly.

That would require them to be aware of this exploit. I'm also curious - the Terrans are the only ones with named planets in their starting system. Does this work for other races as well?

If not, that would explain why this exploit hasn't been reported before. Most MV top players don't use Terrans.

Unfortunately, the terraforming techs would unbalance this. Having multiple low-pq planets would give higher eventual build-space compared to one pq 10 and one pq 4.
Whether this would be an advantage would depend on how rapidly one gets through the terraforming tech line to unlock the usable space.

More likely, a cheat flag will be added if you change the homeworld of a default race.

That's a cool find Harbone.

Not sure if they'd fix it at this late point in the game's lifespan or not. There are plenty of other exploits that they have been aware of and have not fixed, some for more than a year. Hell, there's still two blatant cheaters clogging up the top 25 for the last six months.

Nice find!

BTW if you do use this for the Terrans then try changing the name to Saturn as you then get the bonus for the rings too!

Bonus for the rings? do you get more points if you have a planet with rings

It makes me think of sonic the hedgehog and his power rings

I was just messing about when i found out how to do this i also have a way to change the class of any planet but it dose not work on the Metaverse
Reply #13 Top
to do this with a custom race is a bit more difficult lets say you want it to work on the metaverse I am using Twilight for this go to C:\Documents and Settings\Example\My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor\Metaverse your custom race should be there right click on it and open it with notepad i have a stargate custom race the Ta'uri (Humans)
you should see something like this....

You need to change it to look like this

i am using Earths soler system Sol

then when your about to play change your planet to which ever one you want :CONGRAT:

I got the idea from the event where new miner races appear and somehow colonize class 0 planets (one of them colonized Jupiter) and i started wondering whether i could do that two

Planets with rings get a Science bonus and moons get a Production bonus I believe...or is it the other way around??

Nice find, Harborne. I don't see Stardock spending any time on this one, as this wouldn't affect the meta high scores to any real extent; it's only one planet among hundreds- but in sandbox games it could be fun.

Indeed a good find! Many thanks :D

I think you have it the right way round :)

With the added bonus this can help make a really good start to a game. Mucho Karma to the orig poster :CONGRAT:

Won't it have a real effect on the tiny map players, and hence the Solar Mil and Solar Civ rankings on the AltMeta?

I had considered making a modding guide that had a section for creating a custom solar system. Though I never tried making a class 0 into my homeworld, I found that any PQ world that was less than 10 (such as mars) was raised to 10 when used as your homeworld.

Thanks for the interesting find.
