Deadly Sins Mod and future patching

So, I just got this game a few days ago, have done all the tutorials, and have only played for about 2 hours on my own.

I plan on playing online with a friend, and he had me download the 7 deadly sins mod last night.

Will the mod cause problems in future patches? Did the mod only add things, or did it subtract things and I've cheapened my single player experience by not playing through them first?

Just curious.

Unrelated question, is there a site that displays the research/technology trees visually? Like the Advent's Harmony tree for example.

Probably, but it will be updated for that.

Only added. Next version of it which adds more is in Beta.

Clans of Sin has detailed research trees, ships, abilities.. ;) Pretty sure that's just about what you're looking for.

I avoid gameplay mods that aren't total conversions as a general rule--the only one I've ever come across that has enhanced the original game is Tabletop Roundup for Dawn of War, and that's only because the balance issues are overshadowed by the over-the-topness.

I'm thinking of grabbing one of the enhanced effects mods (Bailknight's videos are fantastically pretty), though, but I suppose I'll wait until 1.1 for that.

What can I say? I'm not very mod happy.

Cool. Thanks for the help.

With patching in the future, will I need the newest deadly sins mod to launch/load/play the game correctly? or will I launch the game and find just the mod features will be broken, "normal" game being intact?

You should be able to load up Sins no problem, then enable the mod through the Options - Mods menu.
If it doesn't work with your version, it would probably crash upon enabling.

If you want to see the advents tech tree, go ingame. And pause it...
