Very good news Mason!

That is awesome news Mason!  Do keep up on the treatment though and also keep getting regularly checked by a dermatologist and/or your regular doc.  If you've had one growth, you have a high probability of having another in the future and early detection gives you much better odds of catching things before they get too far along.

Excellent news though and very happy to see that things are better than originally feared

Dude, great news. Just curious, what would be the treatment for this? Hope it's something simple.

Another question, I notice you mention having your truck fixed quite often on your articles. Do trucks break down that often or is you rig just old or something? Don't know much about trucks so I am curious.

My truck is an '06 model. Trucks need maintenance and repair frequently because of the great number of miles we put on them and the fact that they do heavy duty. When something runs over 100,000 miles per year, often weighing 80,000 lbs or more, you can expect to have to fix it once in a while.

Most of the repairs we do are preventative in nature to avoid break downs on the road as well as to keep them in compliance with federal regs.

One of the things they did yesterday was to replace the steer tires and do a three axle wheel alignment. The right steer tire was wearing funny and although it was still legal the work was done and the tires replaced to avoid a possible problem out on the road somewhere.

Right now we're waiting for a new fan hub. The old one was still working but was showing signs of a possible failure in the near future so it's being replaced to again avoid an on the road failure.

It's far cheaper to fix things in our own shop than to break down out on the road somewhere.

WTF, was your doctor that upset that you waited that long to have it checked he figured he’d teach you a lesson? “Now look what happens when you don’t get these things checked out, you went and got BRAIN CANCER are you happy now”.

Apparently he’s procrastinated too long on getting his eye’s checked. Time to find a new doctor Mason.

It's interesting owning and working with a truck. As a car owner one does not tend to visit shops unless its necessary (which I guess you can say is a bad thing). God knows how much longer our vehicles could last running and looking like new if we did more preventive maintenance rather than waiting for the car to leave you walking. I figured trucks did need maintenance considering the heavy work they do, I just also figured that would have been a factor in designing and building vehicles. But I understand how it works. Thanks for the info, always look forward to learning new stuff.

Thanks for bringing this to the forefront.  My husband has some sort of growth/scab thingy that isn't healing on his scalp and I've asked him prior to have it checked.  He hasn't.  So I brought this up again after reading your first notice about this.  I told him about your experience which sounds very similar to his and now hopefully he will go in to get it checked out.

Trust me, it is a huge factor. Heavy duty trucks are built for the task, but there's only so much they can do. Machines break.

I really can't blame the doc. He's a GP not a surgeon or oncology specialist. I'm sure he was trusting the radiologist's reading of the MRI. Luckily, he knows this isn't his field and consulted with a specialist. He's a great doc and I wouldn't want to see anyone else.

Your more generous than I. He should never have told you “it looks like the cancer has spread into your brain” without consulting an oncologist first. Proper procedure for a GP would have been for him to refer you to an oncologist and let them explain the MRI results.

That was very irresponsible of him.

Not at all. My doc knows me and knows I would rather hear the worst than have things sugar coated. He told me what he knew according to the information he had. He was also smart enough to consult with someone who specializes in this sort of thing.

I have nothing against my doc, he's a great guy and cares about his patients. I would much rather have a doctor like him than one that tries to cover up or sugar coat possible bad news.
