How about the remnants of a planet? something like a fraction of a sphere that is obviously from a planet that got hit by a massive meteorite and drifted into the orbit of another star. You could have scarring all over the surface and a glossy core where there was once super-hot liquid element.

i would love to implement something like that but I cont do anything with meshes. All I know is making textures for a flat sphere.

BUT, if I could get someone to help with meshes............. Who knows what could get accomplished....... ;)

I will be redoing the agriculture planet with smaller fields, it was just an idea I was toying with. The paradise planet... I don't know why I named it that.

ya, the textures sure are nice ^^ the planets look stunning. Now that Uzi's mod died, (taken over by Danman, but still mainly used only in his cluster of mods) it will be nice. i just hope you stay solo with it, nothing against Dan but i prefer to make my own mods and i hate picking through other peoples work to find one specific thing. by the way, just to make it easier later on, if you modify the string file can you put the new info at the very top? its a very big file to search for changes in >.<

No offense taken, merging is my main thing, and when I see good work, I like to offer it to the masses. Remember, you can only have one mod running at one time.

These planets look great. I noticed that you are making planets that are already done, but more variations of these planets are always a good thing. If you need suggestions of what to create and what has already been done, make sure you try the BETA of 7 DEADLY SINS. Here you will see the broad range, and limitations, of planets that already exist, and what needs to be done.

Good luck with all your efforts!

Hmmm the only one I won't sing from the mountain tops about is the desert planet... but all the rest look great!  :CONGRAT:

You should do a "Photoshop Planet" where its just every filter in photoshop one after the other...
Yeah, the desert planet was a joke. The agricultural planet was too at first but I actually started to like it once I shrank down the fields. I just threw the desert planet in there to make sure you guys weren't being too nice. Had to make sure y'all would tell me if you didn't like something I'm making :P. Anyways thanks for the comments and suggestions.

Aractain: I don't have photoshop (I wish I did....). I use GIMP, which doesn't have very many good filters.

About the planets... the reason they are up against a white background and do not have the ambient glow around them is because I cant install Sins onto my laptop for some reason. Every time I try It tells me that there was a fatal error during installation. These planets will look at least .005% better once I can get my game up and running and stick these in there where they belong....

Do I have to have sins installed on my computer to use the Dev.exe?

Yes, it uses all the data etc from the game, its just a special version of the normal .exe (and needs to be run from the game directory).

well thats a bummer... Can I type my serial number in and download sins from impulse?

so none of your planets have ice caps or any recognizable geological features, just generic, unrealistic patterns

they just look like marbles

Can you do better?
As long as they look nice from a distance, they're fine :) :D ...and great work for only a couple weeks... (any improvements to them will be appropriately drooled over)

according to forum user Kitkun, you must be skilled in something to criticize it

does anyone see the problem here

Carbon016,

Sorry, the way you sounded, I rather assumed you could.
You came off rather like a jerk.

Anyways, would a broken planet be doable?

As for a broken planet, I certainly imagine so. Are you refrencing that planet that was broken into big chunks in that one thread ? All you need is a new model for that.

Yep. Much better than completely vaporizing a planet, I think.

I love your mod, I am just wondering who I would combind yours with a mod that I made.
You would have to take the changed files and combine them.

I also would love to combine this mod with the others I use. Any chance of a change file list or even better a download of just the change files when the planet versions come out?

A broken planet in SINS is very doable... :) :D :CONGRAT:

Before you ask, I am still working on the MESH OUTPUT in my program and while this nicely broken planet looks good, I need to finish coding the mesh properties into it, so that the planet isn't broken in more than one way.

Last night I found a way that SINS exposes my file imperfections (in a horrible way), so it can't be released yet.

Otherwise, I came to tell you the format of the UV mapping I am using so that you can get started in anticipation of this mesh :)

My UV map is a full square, wrapped like gas giants are, and the part where the sphere stops and the crumbly bits start is a horizontal line through the center...
