Bought your game at the store but your video card is too old?

No problem, we'll support you!

The Political Machine requires video cards that support pixel shader 2.0. Namely:

- NVidia FX series and higher
- ATI Radeon 9500 and higher
- Intel 9-series chipsets and higher (http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-014257.htm)

(If you do not have a supported card, you can probably find one for as little as $24.99 from places such as newegg.com.)

Normally, on our other games, this isn't a problem as nearly all video cards support this.

But due to the more mainstream appeal of The Political Machine, we're getting a number of people with old video cards which simply can't run the game.  Because they were purchased at retail where returns are generally not allowed, those people, especially people with older laptops, are usually out of luck.

However, Stardock will take your game and provide a FULL refund even if you bought it from a retail outlet.  All we need you to do is send us the box, the receipt, and a brief letter letting us know what type of video card you have (so we can document this).  The only caveat is that you need to do this within the first 10 days of having purchased it.

Send to:

Make sure you include your name and mailing address.

People should honestly read the requirements before they buy, unless they have core 2 quads and 9800gtx..

However, I don't see why a game with bobbleheads shouldn't be able to run on lower pixel versions...

I think most people did read the specs.

The basic requirements are:

"Windows XP/Vista (Check) / 1GHZ Pentium III or AMD equivalent processor (Check) / 512 MD of RAM (Check) 64 MB Direct X9.0c compatible video card (Check)"

OOOoooppps... wait just because you have Direct X9.0c on your computer doesn't mean that your video card is completely compatible with it!!! That's misleading. Unless you know a great deal about video cards or Direct X how in the world would you know that even though you are able to install Direct X9.0c on your computer your video card may not support all of its functions. They needed to say:

- NVidia FX series and higher
- ATI Radeon 9500 and higher
- Intel 9-series chipsets and higher

Then I would agree with "TheDarkKnight2008," but the way the requirements are listed is misleading. Sorry I had to get that out... his comment pissed me off.

I have the following video card (NVIDIA GE Force FX Go5200 32Mb) and the map will not display during gameplay.  All I get is the frame with a black screen in the middle.  Can anyone make suggestions please?

Thanks.

Yes, an x300 meets the game's requirements.

Hello! I have a 2003 laptop (Dell Inspiron 5100 with Pentium 4 processor), and accordingly, my video card is too old to play this game. Can someone please help me find an inexpensive video card with Pixel Shader 2.0 for installation? I'm anxious to play!

Unfortunately, the video chipsets on laptops are generally not upgradeable, and I don't believe there are any external solutions that would be gaming-capable.
