Where is FDR?

I was saddened in the lack of FDR. Especially with Bill Clinton in the campaign mode. FDR made way for Progressive Liberalism, and basically set the agendas of JFK and LBJ. One could also argue he begun paving the way for Hillary's campaign and Obama's campaign aswell. Besides I was looking foward to a good FDR vs Reagan Race. I hope he is introduced at a later time.  The editor makes it possibly, but he is one candidate I believe deserves the extra points that important stock characters get.

FDR is in the game; he's one of the unlockable candidates who is unlocked once you beat him in the campaign.

No that's Theodore Roosevelt a republican. FDR was a democrat.

Yes, he is a candidate the game needs. Perhaps with v1.1, Stardock could add a few new campaigns, the stock characters can't take that long to make?

Yeah. I know who FDR is.

FDR was in the old game's campaign ladder but got cut out of 2008's line-up when we changed the size of the campaign. I forgot about that. Or I'm just completely stupid. I'm sure it's one of the two.

it was an easy mistake. I only played the demo of the 04 version.

FDR needs to come back.

Yes, I was astonished to get to the final level of the Campaign Game as a Republican to find JFK, not FDR, as the opponent. I'm a Dem, and I like JFK, but he barely (and questionably) beat Nixon in 1960. FDR and even Andrew Jackson were much more formidable political candidates. Kennedy's ratings are also inflated, starting with his stamina and credibility numbers.
I would also like more flexibility in customizing candidates, and not so that I could create a supercandidate to win more easily. If you can't eliminate the limits on abilities, at least take off the constraints on issue orientations. I would like to create some of the more idiosyncratic candidates. How would William Jennings Bryan have fared against John Lindsay? As the game stands now, I cannot simulate a race like that.

Being a president nerd, I took it upon myself to create some of my favorite omitted presidents in the editor. So, at least visually, here's my best FDR.

(if you can do better, let's see it!)

Great work.
I'd love to see the XML of his politics.

That is a sweet looking FDR sixtimes. I think for that vintage feel you should get a shot with him with the fancy hat head piece. Once I saw that I thought that a FDR as sweet as that needs a VP too. I gave it a try and came up with this.

Now it would be awesome if we can give him a newspaper to hold as an accessory. :D

I really do not get why all the Republican candidates in the campaign ladder are unlockable, while the Democrats have one already-playable candidate (Bill Clinton). It's also a bummer to hear that FDR is not on the Dems' campaign ladder this time.

If you zip up the .candidatexml and .candidatecfgxml files from your  /my documents/my games/polmachine2008/candidates  and  /my documents/my games/polmachine2008/candidates/configs folders  and post it here (you'll need to host it elsewhere and link to it here), you can share your candidates with the world!  :)

Then when someone gets the zip file and unzips it, they can put the files in these folders in their own my documents/my games/polmachine folder:

.candidatexml files go in the /candidates folder

.candidatecfgxml files go in the /candidates/configs/ folder

Once the files are there, just restart the game and it will automatically detect the new ones.
