Family, Fun, Fireworks, Flame Broiled Burgers and the Fourth of July

So, the 4th of July is nearly here, a day to remember how we became an independent nation. A great day in American History. So what do you plan on doing on the 4th of July?

I'll be with my family, having loads of fun, cooking flame broiled burgers and chicken on the grill and setting off a few of those wanna-be fireworks we can get from the local fireworks stands or Walmart. I would like to go to the beach but am not too fond of the sun hitting me so hard and can't stand the idea of having to wake up so early in the morning just to find a nice parking and a spot on the beach. I probably won't be going to any fireworks events because I am not much of a crowd person. Besides, the skies will be lighted up no matter where we are and we will set up a light show of our own at home.

So lets start getting ready folks. The 4th of July is only 10 days away and counting. Bring on the food and lights.

My boys want to get fireworks to set off.  On July 3rd I am doing face painting at a fireworks extravaganza.  It should be fun.  Lots of red, white and blue designs.  I just hope it's not too incredibly hot.  I painted at the rodeo last week and almost died from the heat and bug bites.  Ah summertime in Texas.

I don't know what we will do. We don't have a grill yet (we didn't move ours with us when we left Hawaii). No fireworks in city limits.

Maybe we'll go on base and watch the firework show.

I think I should start looking online for 4th of July crafts and activities since I don't have a clue! I think we will probably watch Independence Day, though. LOL.

I'm thinking about taking on a tie dye party to make red, white and blue t shirts. Too bad half an inch on the map wasn't closer in real life or you could bring your kiddos. Oh and you should totally get a cheapy charcoal grill. You HAVE to cook out on the Fourth. I think it's a law.

With all the stupid laws we have in this country, you would think this one would actaully be in the books. LOL.

Would like to see your artwork, please post pics if you can.

Shame. Leave it to the Gov't to always ruin our freedom. Definitely get at least that cheesy small one that comes with it's own charcol in it. It's really cheap at walmart. A couple of dogs, a piece of chicken or 2 and some burgers and you got yourself a typical 4th of July party.

Well considering we have the coolest weapons in the world, I'm sure their fireworks have to be just as cool. Hmm, i wonder if they use tax payers money for these fireworks? LOL.

If gas weren't so expensive, we'd be road-tripping up to see you this summer (with your consent of course, LOL).

I love the tie dye idea. Very cool!

We really should just bite the bullet and get a grill. They're only like $25. And I prefer charcoal anyways.

I am not sure where the $$ for post fireworks shows come from, but maybe from MWR funds?

The coolest one we went to was at Kaneohe Bay (MCB). There was a whole day of carnival rides and snacks and activities, then an outdoor Staind concert and massive, elaborate fireworks at the end. LOVELY.

Back in HI, we had a good view of the post fireworks from the boys' playroom upstairs. It was nice to watch them from inside our house. Haha.
