Novalith Cannon Assistance

Hello all, I am a new player of Sins of a Solar Empire and I have thoroughly enjoyed it thus far.  I started playing the very first pre-made map in the single player section, and captured a planet immediately connected to the Pirates homeworld.  Originally, I planned to build a Novalith Cannon and blast them to high hell so I wouldn't have to worry about paying bounty.  However, shortly after I give the order to build it my LEV stops doing so.  Whats worse is that when I order it to continue construction I get the message "That option can only be used on nonconstructed structures" or something like that.  Worse yet is that this unfinished structure still takes up all those tactical slots and none of my LEVs will build it!  Is there something I'm missing about the Novalith Cannon?

Sounds like you haven't researched it yet. The cannon is the most expensive thing to research and you have to research every thing to the cannon to unlock it. beyond that you need to have 8 weapons research structures. basically you will need several planets suffeciently upgraded to even build the infrastructure to research the cannon.

dont fret, with a little time and resources you can build that cannon.

I'm well aware, and I DO have the cannon research complete! I guess I'm the only one with this irritating bug...

Sounds like you've LOST the research.

You need 8 military research base-thingies to research AND TO SUPPORT THE USAGE of the research.

If you had eight, and one was lost, you need a new one.

Sorry for the bump, but i have encountered this as well, the only way i have found to fix it is to decommission it (either use the button underneath the picture of the NovaLith (center bottom) or right click the novalith icon in the tactical menu of the planet and then rebuild it.) i have found this mainly happens when there is a large build que and its not only the NovaLith Cannon this happens to.

Just to be sure, the Novalith had finished building? You can queue a lot of structures, and they'll appear as see-through models until they're built.

The novalith cannon gets to about 30% complete then the LEV's decide to take a coffe break nad dont finish the job. So no matter how many times you try to get them to finish the NLC they cant as the error: That option can only be used on non-constructed structures appears. so you have to self destruct it and rebuild it. also as i said its not just the NLC that this has happened to for me.

As i see it its a small annoying bug that sometimes surfaces but its correctable.
