Anyone else sees it crashing on your XP machine?

Hi,

Am facing a unique problem: Corporate Machine crashes on my XP SP3 machine.

Software Details: XP SP3 with latest windows updats. Kaspersky 8.0 (2009) Internet Security. WindowBlinds (the whole suite).

I tried uninstalling, cleaning the registry and reinstalling CM. No luck. It crashes and Windows creates an error file which mysteriously disappears when i look for the error file.

Any help would be appreciated (Please do not suggest uninstalling Kaspersky or reinstalling XP).

Yeah. Me too... But that's still my best guess.

I don't know which graphics library they used for it. DirectDraw works fine for me and it is DirectX 7...
Not that I could do anything about it O:)
I just really want to try out the game in my own, private, quiet room.

Similar problem here.  I can sometimes get the game to load when running Win98 compatiblity mode & 256 colors, but on attempting to 'Accept' my new Corp, the app freezes.  I'm running a AMD 64 4000 with an NV 8600 GTS in Win XP SP3.

Looks like some sort of conflict with the directdraw interfaces provided by nVidia in recent driver revisions.  You can avoid it by disabling directdraw acceleration - click start, run, type in "dxdiag", click the Display tab, click "Disable" next to "DirectDraw Acceleration."  Note that this will also disable hardware acceleration in all your other games, so don't forget to go turn it back on when you're done playing TCM.

Yup .... That's apparently the problem... Gotta turn the Direct Draw off under dxdiag.  :) Now, is it possible to patch this so that we don't have to adjust our computers when we play the game or not? I honestly don't know, but would appreciate a response... shrugs

Nope, it's driver issue.  But I'll let support know so that they can add the fix to the knowledgebase.
