The Ultimate Question: XP or Vista?

A lot of people have been asking me this:

"Which is better: XP or Vista?"

Some people say "Vista SUX!!!". Others say "Long Live VISTA!!!". Go figure.

But one thing I know for sure is that Vista is better than XP in a few ways and vice-versa.

For example, Vista has all of those fancy graphics features built into the OS. XP requires something like WindowBlinds to achieve the transparent look of Aero.

On the other hand, XP runs on 512 MB of RAM easily (while running about 30 processes). Vista requires at least 1.5 GB of RAM (running close to 70 processes - about 58-62 pertaining to the actual OS) to be effective.

My opinion on this matter is that XP is still a very reliable OS if you can live without eye candy. However, if you're one of those people who want graphics mixed in with a useable OS, then Vista is for you.

So, what is your choice? XP or Vista?

It's simple as heck. XP. If you want eyecandy, get it from Stardock.

Given the choice, I would go with XP. I have been using it for years and am use to being able to tweak it to my liking. As for eye candy, thats what Stardock is for. I wouldn't mind using Vista (Ultimate) just to learn how to use it since eventually it will be the supreme king of Microsoft once XP is ditched (most likely not anytime soon).

My new laptop came with Vista Home Premium installed and chose to keep it since I didn't feel like dealing with changing a system designed to work with Vista. Besides, I had enough horse power to run it so what better time to learn to use it. I have not had enough headaches or big enough ones to wanna switch to XP so for now, Vista is OK with me. Not perfect and not great but good enough, for now.
