Have downloaded and installed SR2 Rreboot but am unable to get game to run I get an error message that say it is unable to locate DebugMsg.dll and reinstaslling might fix the problem.  I have reinstalled three times and am getting same error message.  Any help would be great.

The answer is you did not install it in the correct folder. V1.3 and V2.0 have to be installed in the same folder.

You have 2 choices. You can uninstall your V2.0, move your V1.3 over to the folder impulse is going to install into, fix up the registry, then reinstall V2.0. Or you can uninstall both and reinstall both thru impulse.

Here is a tip. Impulse has no instructions or help (of value) that I could find. After you have downloaded everything several times, you're sick of late-night TV, you've pulled out all your hair, and you suddenly get an impulse (pardon the pun) to right-click on the stardock logo, do it. There you will find a drop-down menu that allows you to set your preferences like your starting download directory.

Hope this helps.

I will give it a try and let you know the outcome.

This has been largely resolved in the short-term, assuming you purchased your copy of Space Rangers 2 from us. Make sure that Prompt for install directory is disabled in Impulse, then install Reboot. It will automatically install to the correct location now.

For those who purchased Space Rangers 2 elsewhere, we're working on a fix that should go live next week.

A fix? The sooner the better.

I bought the origional Space Rangers 2 (contained on a disk) from Cinemaware Marquee and have it installed and when I try to install Reboot over the origional then it says "Please install 'Space Rangers 2' before installing this application". Are there any work arounds like what kgavin is talking about. His suggestion didn't work but I'll keep trying.

Considering that Space Rangers 2 has so many distributers I suppose this expansion can complicate things. Hope you get everything work out... and quickly.

Has anyone found any workarounds for installing Reboot yet? I submitted a ticket a few days ago and havent gotten a response yet...

they must have changed Impulse. When I bought the expansion about a week ago it did not check to see if SR2 was installed and happily installed the xpansion into its own folder and I could copy it on top of my CD install and things are working. I suppose if they have tried to make it find the SR2 installation and that is not working you might just be screwed until they fix it which will hopefully be real soon according to Yarlen.

We tested the internal fix on Friday and it seems happy.  If all goes well, this new build of Impulse will go live for everyone on or before this Wednesday.

If you bought Space Rangers 2 from somewhere else, Impulse will ask you to point it to your install; if you bought it from us and want to install Reboot, it'll automatically install it to the right place. :)

Folcik009 - Please PM me your ticket # and I'll look into it for you if you haven't heard back anything.

Looks like it's installing right now. Hope it goes well! Thanks for the Impulse update.

Edit: Install doesn't work! After I install Reboot it doesn't detect it and the process starts all over again. It then says Reboot is "Availible", I click "Install", it downloads, and the process starts all over again...

Time for ANOTHER ticket... :(

For the record, Folcik009 is sorted out now.   We're investigating what uber-strangeness went on with his install.  (:(
