Bug?

When I create an ad in any given state the effects are totally contrary to what should happen. E.g. if I create an ad "pro social security" in Florida my ratings on that particular item drop whereas they should get higher. Moreover the topic doesn't move up the table of nationally important topics if it's a TV ad - instead it moves down.

I would like to know if other players experience the same "problem" and what stardock has to say about it.

Can't imagine that no one else is experiencing this?

For example, start a campaign with Bill Clinton and look at his "high gas prices" rating in Arkansas (-25) and where the topic stands on the national top ten list.

Now create a tv ad "OPPOSING high gas prices" and see what happens. His rating goes up to -8 (instead of down!) and the topic drops down/out of the top ten list nationally (instead of becoming more important because of the tv ad). Either I'm missing the point completely or there is something seriously flawed in the game. But I can't imagine that no one would stumble across something like that happening right at the beginning of the game.

If the decrease only happens once then it's a known bug. There is an issue (which I am working on at this very moment) where the default values are overwritten by the first ad/speech that affects a particular issue. So while it may drop from -25 to -8 at first, the score should continue to drop from -8 from there.

I mean, if it's not doing that then please tell me so I can know to cry.

I tested this out of curiosity. Here's what happened:

Starting value for High Gas Prices:
-25

After TV Ad AGAINST High Gas Prices:
-18

Next week:
-19

Next week:
-20

So I would conclude that the known bug is the only one at work here.

thank you  :CONGRAT: great news! I hope that this will also fix the wrong effects those ads have on the national top ten topics, i.e. that the topic gets more important not less important.

Yup yup. It should; both the position on an issue (a range of [-10,10]) and importance (range of [1,10]) would have been effected by this.

When is that update going to come out? The bug is known for a week now...

I'd imagine that when Impulse tells you that an update is available is when the update will be out.

But we don't have a set date for the update yet.
