Just a few questions...

Just a few quick questions (as the name implies).

1.What sizes should I save Icons that I create?

2.What is the file for IconPackager? (as in .ico?)

3. When I make an icon on GIMP, i have to make the background fully transparent, correct?

4.When I make my file to upload to wincustomize, what type of file should I make it (instead of a .zip is it .iconzip?)

5.If the file isn't just a normal .zip, how would I go about making it a ._____?

6. Is it required to have iconpackager to change it to that format?

7. Should I compress the icon files?

If anyone could answer these questions, that would be really great. Sorry if they are completly obvious.

1. I'm working on my first Icon Packager package and I draw each icon in 256x256. I do this so I can get a good feel of how I want the icon to look and it just seems easier to convert in Icon Developer. Icon Developer will convert a .PNG to .ICO and create the appropriate sizes for you.
2. Yes, .ICO.
3. Correct. Otherwise, you'll have a colored, square background. If you want to go for that look, then by all means do so.
4. When you package your icons together with Icon Packager, it creates an .IP file. Icon Packager reads this file and does the rest of the work.
5. See previous answer ;) .
6. I honestly don't know, but I'd have to say most likely. Ask a moderator about that one.
7. See answer to #1 :) .

I hope this helps you. Like I said: I'm new to Icon Packager as well, but I've been tinkering with it for some time now so I've got the basics down.

Good luck :CONGRAT: !

I'm guessing you're right - just taking icons and zipping them up, them renaming the extension to .ip won't get them assigned to the proper spot.
