Interesting... Unused Vanilla mesh files

I've been doing a bit of modding, and I found that there is a gunship fighter for both the Vasari and the Advent. I plugged the mesh in for the bomber and it's an entirely new ship. I don't know if anyone's seen this yet, so I'm just letting modders know. They could be encorporated into a mod pretty easily...

Have you tried plugging in Planet Elevators???

You have to add some Null Points to make them work, but there are a couple of them that should be used for other things (I adopted one of the flat ones for a siege platform, and it works perfectly)...

I had another look in the Mesh folder just for the fun of it and found a Tech-repair-ship I overlooked the first time (and it was just what I was looking for (thanks for making me look again :) :D

actually if you looked the mesh files out tec has a gunship as well. Im playing with it now, ill post some images from the little trial im doing now. (it will also be a part of a little mod im putting together here and there....)

As far as I can remember, the Gunships were going to be the third type of strike craft, but they were dropped really early on.

ya... the tec gunship has the same mesh as the tec fighter.

Ya... I noticed that too, which is why I didn't list that one in. It seems they made Gunships for the Vasari and Advent but changed their minds and didn't finish one for the TEC.

And it is a full ship, complete with hardpoints and textures. I'll see if I can get screenshots, but all you really have to do is change what mesh the fighters call for in the entity files if you want to see them for yourself.

You reckon we can add them back in, though? Will the GUI allow for an extra button in the strike craft area?

No, it won't. We're limited to 2 per ship. We can have as many different types of squadrons as we like, but a ship can only build 2.

easist thing to do then would be to grab a new ship and put only gunships on it

kinda like a gunship carrier :)

well that or replace them depending on the ship to add a little strategic variety ^^

I've been using shield meshes to make new spaceships...

The hard part is re-skinning them to look like they weren't salvaged :) :D

Yah, I've noticed that...I've also heard that there is another set of them in there, but I can't seem to find them...
