Patching

You have GOT to be kidding me!

The hoops one has to go through to get the initial patch is just completely uncalled for.  The SN for the game, entered through the games GUI, should be enough.  Making us register and give you our spam email accounts is just one sure way to make me think twice before purchasing any other games out of this dev shop.

To add insult to injury, the patch is moving across what must be the slowest network on the planet.

I get that you guys are a small shop, but come on.  How about making the patching process a bit less of a pain in the ass?  My friends and I just want to play your game and have fun, not spend all this time spinning our wheels and hoping the game is good enough to be worth the trouble.

Impulse is the newest way to update Stardock software. Please know that Sins is currently the most popular RTS game out there right now. Traffic is very high on our servers. My apologies for the trouble you are having but Stardock in a period of very rapid growth.

My apologies for the trouble you have had. Expect a great deal out of Impulse and Stardock in the coming months. You will be greatly impressed I am sure.

Um, putting a serial number in and registering an account (like Stardock is going to spam you.. :d) isn't really that difficult. If a 16MB patch is taking a while, it's not their servers.

Even using Stardock Central (the outdated way) is cake... open it up and it does it all for me. Hardly a problem causing nightmare... Not to mention the fact that these people are pretty responsive when it comes to real problems, as shown by the fact a company person is the first to respond. There's not really a need for the tone of this post.

In future, please remember there are those in the lower age brackets that visit here, and while you have the "right" to use whatever language you choose, there are those that are offended and those that are not ready for it, and they have just as much "right" not to see it.

Making us register and give you our spam email accounts

We won't spam you, and considering that email address is your link to download the entire game at any time you choose in the future, it'd probably be better to use one you're going to remember and keep access to.

I'd expect that any slowness you're experiencing is due to routing issues between you and the server. Downloads from our sites average at least 700kB/s for me (and I work offsite, hundreds of miles from the servers).

Hello

Bought this game last weekend. WOW!! it is AWESOME. However, I have been having PC lockups during gameplay. I have to power off my PC cause I cannot use ALT-TAB or Ctrl/ALT/Delete. It is completely locked up. Has anyone else been experiencing this issue? Any suggestions on a fix or setting change?

I have a Dual Core AMD 4800 64+ with Nvidia 7800 GTX 256 MB with 4GB Ram and 500 GB harddisk space running XP.

Thanks

I've attempted repeatedly to register the SN of the game I just paid $40 for, and the server refuses to do jack squat.....

Terrible service

email [email protected] or head over to IRC (It's embedded in both SDC and Impulse) for assistance.

nyati13 - I don't have any recent orders for this listed account. Please let us know any of your purchase info at [email protected] OR [email protected]. Either way we can get this sorted out.

Also the user nick name has been updated of the orginal poster.

One shouldn't have to contact support to update a product for which one has fully paid. This is a MAJOR FLAW. It is NOT easy; it simply HAS NOT WORKED.

It took me all of about 10 minutes to download the 1.05 patch off the website.
And when I was unable to connect to play MP, anotehr 5 minute after reading the FAQ to get it up and running (and able to host) without even reading The Monk's guide.
If people actually spend a few minutes thinking about things instead of instantly throwing their hands up in the air AND/OR being civil if they do actually require help, things would be SO much nicer.
Personally I would just delete the thread and tell the user to rejoin the forums with a proper username :)

Hack78,

As you witnessed on ICO the other night; I give people the link to the guide I wrote and even that isn't good/easy enough. (those unlike you who actually need the help...hehe   ;p )

Guess it's true; You can lead a horse to water......if he won't drink....shoot him!

Umm - no??? :)
The noobs kept coming and begging for help???

I did find an interesting way to get an easy win - play a noob 1v1 and then have him quit/surrender after 5 minutes due to a ping of something like 46XXX - shame I didn't get a screen shot.
