Why No "Ignore"?

While I was attempting to play tonight, I kept encountering this annoying prick who would not leave me be. Why can't I at least "ignore" his messages, or ban him from the games that I am creating. This is really annoying, and needs to be fixed.

No, you need to be fixed. You who doesn't even know how to ignore a person and gets all uptight, demanding others should cater to his social ineptitude is far worse than someone who uses their right to free speech and has the spine to do so without regards for a nobody like you.

Decent enough troll, sheer name-calling often can give off a false impression of actually being raged at the OP's post rather than just baiting. 4/10, room for improvement but not a bad start.

OP: It's been a while since I played, but there's no ignore command? Have you tried typing /ignore or clicking the player to bring up their profile? I swear one was implemented around 1.04 because of the constant lobby spamming.

Well I think any sort of requests for feature changes to ICO are irrelevant at this stage. Its not too long until we will be using Stardock's common multiplayer platform client and I'm sure we'll see an abundance of new features there. :)

I don't know how much integration SD and IC is planning as far as that goes. However, there have been several rather big incidents on ICO since launch that IC has said they'll put in an ignore feature. It hasn't made it in 1.05, but I would say there's a good chance we might see it in 1.1 ;)

Not trolling, at all. Ignorers are much, much worse than the people they're ignoring.

Im glad there is not a banning feature, thats one of the most annoying things about battle.net in that sometimes you don't even know why you got banned in the first place....

lol?!...

Many who plays online would like the ignore button. If someone is being racist/rude in ICO , or if im trying to read something in ICO but its getting drowned out by a prick whos spamming , then I want a button that can ignore that person . This has nothing to do with defying freedom of speech or the epitude of society.

@ Arca . I agree with you on that. I think the only people who should be able to ban are the developers. Forexample banning minidump because he was spamming ICO.

yeah damn those people who don't want to listen to others bullshit via text, they're terrible people, let's ban them all. much worse than posts like

Take your hippie political correctness bs elsewhere because all wishing me a "good game" makes me want to do is slit your throat with barbed wire.

protip: this is not your personal internet tough guy e-lounge. if you can't post without nerd-raging at the OP (i.e.: answering his question constructively) don't bother. ironically, posts like these illustrate why the OP needs an ignore function.

Cut the insults. Free speech doesn't mean anyone is obligated to listen, and that's completely ignoring the fact that on private property (forums, ICO) we have every right to tell you to take offensive speech elsewhere.

I agree that people shouldn't be swearing/being racist etc...
Another gripe I have (recently aquired) is that the lobby is for starting a game - not trying to pick people up (she (he???) knows who I am talking about - people who were on yesterday were commenting on it while waiting to start a game). You can't even see WHO you are talking to, let alone where they are etc... so there is no point asking if they are hot/single etc... Just get on and play the game please.

Agreed, I think that IF they ever add a ban feature, it must expire with each game, NOT carry over to ANY games made by the banning player.

I think that a report system could help ALOT more than an ignore or ban system though, mabey if 3 people in a room report them it bans them from that room. Or mabey if you get reported you get a warning msg from the system that lets you know what they reported you for and how many warnings you have left....

The only problem with an automated reporting system is that it can't tell when a report is justified or not. I'm sure alot of people have had the experience of being spammed or insulted by some jerk, telling them to knock it off and then suddenly you've got a 'report' for abuse or whatever against you by said 'jerk'.

Very annoying.

I second the need for 'ignore,' and 'ban' features. I've had several games where a troll joins just for the purpose of ruining it, and there was basically nothing I could do to stop him. I'd kick, he'd rejoin, I'd kick, he'd rejoin. Hosts have no control at all.

I'd like to see an ignore feature too as well as the ability to kick folks out of private chat channels. I once kicked an ass out of a game I was setting up where the guy was insulting the other players. He rejoined the chat channel and started spamming it with random keystrokes so that we couldn't talk. I guess it was kind of funny, but an ignore feature and a ban from channel feature would be nice.

just yesterday i had this guy in the forums shouting "PENIS" every 10 seconds, i dont know about you but i REALY want to be able 2 ignore that guys messages for it's pretty hard trying to explain people WHY they have to open up ports in their router to be able 2 play when this guy keeps shouting PENIS.....

you think ignorers are much , much worse? then theres a few options
1: your a lobby spammer and your probably the one shouting weird stuff all day long
2: your super-lonely and you try to get some attention from other players, who might be afk, so you hate them for not responding (i'd ignore u already... if possibly)
3: you've got some sort of brain-damage, and see stuff the wrong way around (ouch)

last time i checked we either ignore people that shout completly random stuff and being plainly annoying, or we're simple AFK, thus not ignoring anybody
i dont see why it's annoying to ignore people that shout PENIS all day -.-
do you?

You should feel sorry for that person - they probably had Turrets of the Keyboard. A very sad condition indeed... They need your caring and understanding, not to be ignored

I think you mean a swift kick and then an ignore. I'd care for somebody decent. Somebody shouting "PENIS"! every ten seconds is not decent, and deserves a good kicking. Preferably in between the legs if they have one of what they seem so fixated on.

I think he was being sarcastic. LOL

So was I. Though they still deserve a good kicking.
