Season Three Metaverse League Draft

I have sent messages to Elwood, Iztok, AdriansCamaro, Idazen, CraigHB, Ragnar1, and Seven300; as of yet they have either not been read and/or responded.

DSep said he will get back to but is out for June as he has finals this month.

Any particular starting time?

whenever FireBender makes his draft I suppose; he's on the other side of the world so I wanted to give him some flexibility. Also, the MVL Bonus Round scores are posted

For the captains drafting:

You can also look at the bonus round thread to see who has bonus points awarded for the next round...if that matters to your decisions.

Could we update the OP to reflect that? Maybe stick a little +1 or +2 next to the person's name in the draft pool?

Are captains allowed to draft players not on the confirmed list if they want to gamble on their returning?

And I would guess that each captain is very much aware of which players have bonus points, but I also think Piznit's suggestion is a good idea.

@Piznit: I am heading off to work right now, but I will add those points in the OP when I get back tonight.

@JustinSane: I would strongly recommend against it. I have sent out PMs and will hopefully hear from those players soon but if they decide against returning, it would be disadvantageous for a captain that used his pick on them.

I guess that makes some sense, although if I recall correctly he's very early in the timezone sequence so that implies he may very well make his selection before most people even wake up in the morning.

What I was more asking then is it simply OK for him to start at say 00:01 and would there be any concern if he hadn't yet made his choice by 22:00?

Flexibility is fine but some reasonable limit should be in place so that the second in line has some idea as to when he will be "on the clock" and so on down the line. Not everyone is available pretty much 24 hours a day as I am and making it solely dependent on the first person in line may make it very inconvenient for someone further down the line.

Perhaps FB can respond as to when he would expect to make his selection and then everyone else can adjust their schedules accordingly.

For those that don't know, the Celtics (i.e. the legendary Red Auerbach) drafted Larry Bird with the 6th overall pick in 1978 even though he returned to play his final year at Indiana State University in 1979 where he lost in the NCAA championships to Magic Johnson's MSU Spartans. This was allowed at the time under the so called "junior eligible" rule but shortly thereafter this practice was specifically disallowed by the "Bird Collegiate Rule" (as differentiated from the Larry Bird Exception Rule that allows teams to exceed the salary cap to sign "qualifying veteran free agents").

I see no issue in someone drafting someone that fits this category. I bet I can guess who Justin is talking about.

Seems to me there are a couple of players that haven't confirmed who are worth considering .

Nicely done SB! I look forward to the draft and round 9. I have no problem with anyone wanting to "risk" their draft pick on a unconfirmed player.

Good luck all and remember, when Thursday rolls around for you guys, I'll already be in bed Thursday night for me and i have to get up very early for work Friday. If it pleases the MVL i will PM my pick and a backup should FB take my 1st choice to Silver so that i do not hold up the draft process.

It might be worth waiting before starting the draft, in case we get more interest from new players.

I'm going to personally counsel against selecting someone that has not confirmed. Please note that MottiKhan and Dystopic are definitely out as it currently stands (I just talked to Dys yesterday quite extensively about this, so I'm pretty sure on that one).

Trust me when I say that I have been updating the OP with the most current list as it comes in.

I also sent FB a PM today, reminding him he has the first pick. He has not responded as of yet.

Yep 9. Unless you want to count the bonus round as 9 then it would be 10.

Almost anything sounds good enough if you play it slow enough... Massive reverb and let every note die before starting the next one
