Planning a mod, Epic ships and Battle stations :)

but i need help

 

Ahoy there,

I am planning a mod for SINS during my holidays but i need a bit of help as i am new to modding.

I guess first i will let you know the concept behind it:

Basicaly i want to add, for each team, one very large, very mean epic unit,  One large, powerfull, expensive battle station, think that first station you put around a newly discovered planet, to protect it while you gain a foothold. (thinking this station could possibly handle construction of Epic unit, as well as other ships.)

I have XSI mod tool, for models, but i dont know much about it.

Anyone who knows how i can make models, export them and incorporate them into the tech tree, please help?

An excellent name would be the WMD mod for Weapons of Mass Destruction, which this mod certainly will have. If Lost_WLD lets you use some of his particle effects among other things for this mod, then we are seriously talking mass destruction. I love this mod and its ideas. Another source for stuff would be Kreyson's Battlewagons mod for help with buffing the capital ships. Anyways, if a beta tester is needed for this mod, I'm available. Hell, Alpha tester even.

that name does have a nice ring to it, one that just popped into my head was sins of a solar empire: Escalated engagement... maybe? effects wise, i am holding out for sins 1.1, hoping they will grace us with better explosions... vanilla explosions = instant fail  :(

sounds like a name better than any I'd come up with. I got Bailknights 1.2 and the capital ship explosion in that mod is epic, but 1.3's explosions are going to be even better. So either wait for 1.1 or 1.3

had a look at that trailer... and i crave it!

right, i am still looking for time to perfect meshes, when that is done i need to texture, this is the first problem. can anyone help me with this. i have no idea how to texture.
