1.1 Predictions

So I've seen all these thread about what we want and what we neeed in the next patch.  This is a chance for you to put on your precog caps and tell us  what you think we are going to get :D 

Please don't troll.  If you have to be cynical do it somewhere else.  We know the Devs are introducing new elements to Sins.  What do you think the goodies will be?  The person in this thread with the most correct predictions for patch 1.1 will get to ride a Space Pony!  (Devs, you get to play too :P)

My predictions:
-Secondary Support Cruisers will be able to lay mines, Flak will be able to sweep them up
-The Diplomacy screen will allow trading of technologies and ships, as well as demanding tribute from enemies
-You will be able to recruit Pirate spies on the Pirate screen, who can sabotage your enemies or spy on their planets
-Each race will gain a stealth ability or remove-stealth ability
-Advent and TEC will be given ultimate techs comparable to Vasari RA. 
-You will be able to assign a given Cap ship as your "hero" unit, with corresponding buffs and experience increase.  You only get one per game, so you have to be careful with it..
-At least two new artifacts will be introduced
-A new defensive structure will be introduced that excels at destroying strike craft and scouts
-a new unit or structure will be introduced which is able to very slowly move orbital structures (including extractors) around the gravity well.

How about some stronger defensive platforms???e.g. A defence platform - weapons include combined gun/missile and hanger plus maybe others - repair, shield recharge etc...Obviously it will cost some, but would make a huge difference at a chokepoint. Should be able to handle a single cap or a number of small frigates by itself so you need 2-3 caps or 30+ frigates to take it down.Classic single player mentality. Chockeholding is lame, and this game was designed so that it is impossible for static defenses to beat a mobile fleet. You want to defend something? Build some ships!


Yeah. Agreed. The only real worthwhile defensive structures are Phase Inhibitors and maybe a few Hangar units to block marauding ships.

Planet shield should be ground based (e.g. like Hoth). You have to knock it down before doing damage to the planet as opposed to space based which can be blown up in orbit. Planet is FAR more likely to have the power requirements to project a shield then an orbital structure.
Ground based space fighters are also an option based on a similar notion - the defence fighters scramble into orbit shortly after enemy appears in system.

the thing this game needs more off is SHIPS!!!! and better DEFENSES!!! for ships id love to have a heavier class of fighter like gunships maybe with 3 to 4 in a squad,
and id love a heavy cruiser carrier, it would carry a squad of fighters, but have weapons, a strike carrier? but it would be the hardest too research, and would be expensive. id also like a new kodiak model or atleast a retouch of it as it just looks awfull. and others suggestions about a defense platform that combines weapons and hangers would be nice aswell.

I said it before - but after playing another game where the AI took over and had a huge fleet
THE ABILITY FOR THE AI TO BE CLEAVER ENOUGH TO WORK WITH ALLIES!!!
i.e. jump where they are asked to attack/defend
AND TO STOP RUNNING AWAY WHEN THEY HAVE A SMALL CHANCE OF GETTING A BLOODY NOSE!!!
Arrggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... The amount of shouting I am doing at an AI that won't engage but would win the game if it did is amazing!

I want different formations and tactics for when you put fleets together. Right now they are too limiting. I want more animation in the fighting between the ships. I want my ships to know that they need to take out the ships that are firing on my planet and killing innocent civilians first. I haven't been playing very long and I just started my first Visari game, but the ships should move differently for each race.

Like the fighters. These are 3 different races ( I don't know how similar or dissimilar the Advent are from the TEC but) so one would think that maybe the fighters of the Visari could maybe turn more sharply or go into steep vertical inclines due to greater tolerances? I don't know, although each race has different technologies and ship designs they all move the same.

What I'd like to see:
1. Stronger static defenses (especially for TEC as the railguns simply are not worth using.) I want it almost necessary to have at least cruisers in your fleets if not caps to beat just static defenses on homeworlds.
2. Revamp of the diplomacy system including the ability to issue contracts/missions to other players.
3. Cap ship using pirates
4. the mine ability as mentioned in the original post. More strategy options are always welcome.
5. Instead of stealth, saboteurs that can disguise themselves as enemy forces and disable/damage structures. Kind of like the mimics from Homeworld but not suicide ships.

The only things I could possibly hope for would be:

1. New diplomacy options (Demands, threats and pleas for peace)
2. New pirates (Acting like a real AI with the raids on the side, rather than just pre-defined raids)
and finally, 3. A reworking of the AI tactics (Aggressor can't stand a fight, Fortifier never builds enough defences, Economist never builds himself up enough and Researcher is always outclassed).

what'd be cool is if other ships got experience too, not just caps. they don't have to get special abilities at level ups (do you really want to go through hundreds of ships and hand pick their buffs?), but maybe they get slightly better hulls, better targeting/damage... stuff like that.

level ups past 10 for caps would be awesome too.

While I would love to see some new ships or structures that somehow added to the strategic options and depth of the game, I will be pretty satisfied if the game is totally stable and everyone can host. The multiplayer community has been badly hurt by many players being unable to change their firewalls (at college) or being too lazy to learn how. That and desync crashes pretty much killed this game's chance of having a large online community.

It would be nice to get an update and a revised (but noncommittal) ETA for the 1.1 patch. We haven't had any updates for a while.

I'm dissapointed at the level of communication.
A stardock employee said on these boards that new information about 1.1 would arive at the start of the next month (he ment juni, so 3 weeks ago), but nothing.
Honestly i dont really expect much anymore.

I think they should re-do some ship designs, and maybe increase weapon effects do we don't always have to use mods:P

The Marza, The Evacuator and the Kortul needs redesigning... especially the Evacuator, it's pretty damn ugly. The Kortul just doesn't look menacing.

What about caps that build some defenses and structures, like a stationary shield bubble to protect your ships?

Perhaps a mobile anti-matter producing ship, like the Supply wagon concept in Rise of Nations?
