String not Found

Help

Hello everyone Since i played this game (i have the downloadversion, at the moment 1.05.xx [latest available patch] and use Windows XP) i get some Problems with mods, with absolute EVERY Mod. When i choose a mod and want to start a new game every map is named "String not found" and the buttons to choose different sizes and for the game options are gone. When i disable the mod everything works fine. I already tried 10+ mods, everything the same. I dont really think that this is an mod issue, since every mod produces the same problem... Anyone has a suggestion how to solve this Problem? Except deleting and reownloading the game (first time i bought a downloadversion of a game, last time i bought a download version of a game). best regards Jens Tebest

It sounds like you might be trying to use mods from older versions of the game, with altered string or window files that aren't correct for the current version. Are there any particular mods you can list that you're having this issue with?

Backing up kryo on this one, I've seen it personally when trying older version mods. There have been a few patches with some major changes, 1.03 was the major culprit. I'm willing to bet if you look at the gameplay.constants files in those mods you will see a "MaxShipSlots 2300" at the top. If you do, then it's an old version of the file and that's why the buttons are gone. 1.03 added them and changed the layout of the gameplay.constants file, thus they wouldn't be visible in older versions.

Hmm, the last mod i tried was "The Mars Effect", the gameplay.constant fil dint has the entry "MaxShipSlots 2300" but "MaxShipSlots 6500"

And in the Readme file stands:
"Note: Until v1.3 of Sins of a Solar Empire comes out, the total size of this mod will be roughly 1.3GB, make sure you have that much space on your HDD before installing this mod! " https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/301007 and at the end of this Threads stand it does not work with 1.03+.

Damn it, it seems every mod i tried was for an older Version ;(

Well, the number in MaxShipSlots doesn't matter, it's the fact that it had that line.

But yeah, that means you're just using old mods. If you go to the forum's mod section, the main ones (some of which are really nice compilations of several) are posted with the most up to date versions :)

Ah ok, thank you for the information.

Then i will see if i can find a mod which buffs the capitals and highten the Number of Ships overall.

It's actually very easy to do that yourself, if that's all you want modded. I can help walk you through the quick and dirty way, or the slightly slower but clean way of doing it. Either way, it'll likely not take more than 10 minutes to adjust the number of capital crews and fleet points ;)

As for buffing capitals, that would depend on how exactly you'd like them buffed.

The mod compilations I was referring to are mostly game/graphics changes, not so much unit tinkering, so you may be out of luck there.
