Impulse Update

This will not be news to those that use Impulse often since Impulse will make an automatic update on it's own.

However I you do not use Impulse often please fire it up for a large update. Too many things were updated to list them all off. This is a FYI to all our customers.

Checking now. Thanks ;)

Edit

Just updated and did a quick run through of it . I like the new buttons being in place on the community tab.

I still think a progress bar is needed though.

When connecting to IRC i see no way to disconnect from it other than type /quit or completely closing out Impulse.

What happened to the Registrations tab? Gone for good or being worked on?

I've been trying just about every function I can, really nice update.  :HOT:

I have one suggestion for the Forums Tab at the bottom, it might be nice to have it show the different Forums that are available and then you could select which one you want or be able to set a default Forum. Just a thought. ;)

That works for me to close the rooms I'm in but not to actually disconnect from the server.

Did it work to disconnect you from the server also?

or better question

For those in the know. Is that supposed to work to disconnect you from the server?

Also when i type /list for a room list it shows a list of the rooms but then you have to type them in to join (can't just click them). Is that the way it is supposed to be?

Same here.

If not,it's certainly a suggestion for the future.Auto-disconnect on closing all rooms.

Simple at the server page for irc.stardock.com you type disconnect or connect and join what ever channel or even add channels to the total screen. All the same commands for any IRC server related.
Works very well and is nice to have.
Very good work Team and thanks for all the hard work. I see there is more on the way with pages for a lot of other goodies being bull doozed in soon... Pretty cool - I like the way this is looking.

Many Thanks and Keep em coming!

One step forward, 17 steps backward. Now, the latest Impulse installer crashes during setup (although it reaches the screen where it claims that Impulse has been installed successfully. Error: AppName impulse.exe, AppVer 1.0.0.0, ModName kernel32.dll, ModVer 5.1.2600.5512, Offset 00012aeb. So I have no idea if the proxy issues have been resolved or not, as I cannot even install Impulse now, let alone attempt to launch it!!!

Please make sure that ALL application updates occur on SDC first, as that is the primary software distribution/installation/uninstallation/update application for Stardock software - and it Just Works™!

I think that is rapidly becoming a false statement.

You should email your error to [email protected] so it's logged and can be addressed.  The issue may be with impulse or a local issue.

AAARRRGHHH Another Impulse update and again it kills my installation. Back to "There was a problem with Impulse Auto updating please try again." except this time all the things I did previously to get it working aren't helping.

Where is the new update for Impulse?

I'm not able to replicate that problem Opus. Please send in your info to [email protected].

Did you ever try reinstalling your .Net?

A update is on the private server and being tested.

Here are my comments on Impulse build 2.90.166.  I'm on dialup.  The content updates at startup are slow and even occassionally bring Impulse to a stop.

When I first used the Communities Tab, I could not find any of the icons that worked.  It wasn't until I left for awhile to take a leak before I found out that one of them really does work!  It's just that the downloads are so slow that it's like watching grass grow or a pot to boil.  Isn't there anything Stardock can do to streamline the pages for dialup users?  Just as an example, the News icon is full of graphics stuff and looks (and in fact is) nothing more than an ad for Stardock products.  Make these pages look more like a newspaper and leave the fancy graphics for the section already devoted to ads... the Store tab.  In my humble opinion, you could do some streamling there, too.  Similar things could be said of the Community tab.  Streamline, streamline, streamline!

I'm also finding that some of the print in the communitry section difficult to read because of the black print against the dark purple background.

I'll also throw in my vote for a progress indicator.   With nothing to indicate that Impulse is doing something, I find myself repeatedly clicking the same link over and over again, and then finally coming to the conclusion that the program must have crashed or something. And as long as you're going to inlude a progress indicator, throw in a stop button and refresh button, too. No browser (because that is what Impulse is) is complete without them.

I'd also like to mention my annoyance at the new place for the registrations tab.  It's now a small icon among several others in the upper right corner of the window.  I fiind that the tootips obscure the icons when you mouse over them, so you have to move your mouse away to see where the other neighboring icons lie.

I should mention that I can go to other web sites that are more graphics intensive than your pages, and they load much faster than those in Impulse.  In the long run, might you be better off pulling most of the communites stuff out of Impulse and relying on a real browser unencumbered by Impulse's eccentricities?  Impulse's primary mission IMHO is to be a software product distributer and updater.  All the rest just hampers or degrades the efficiency of Impulse to fullfill it's primary mission.
