I hope everybody's holiday season is going well. I just wanted to take a moment to wish everybody Happy Holidays! I hope and pray that it finds everyone in the best of health and spirits.
My children wrote their letters to Santa today. I acted as their secretary- They told me what they wanted the letters to say, and I typed it up on the computer for them, then they wrote their names at the bottom of the letters. My oldest son who is 5 was very excited and blurted out several items that he wants for Christmas...my youngest son was the thinker...after I'd type something that he wanted, he'd look at the screen and ponder his next request for a few minutes..my boys are so sweet. I wish I could freeze them in time.... We then took the letters, placed them in stamped envelopes and decorated the envelopes special for Santa. After that was done, we drove down to the post office and placed them in the special red mailbox. The boys were so happy. Moments like that are so special to me.
On Christmas day, I'm cooking dinner for my parents, husband and children. We're having a smoked turkey, glazed spiral cut ham, candied sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, baked corn and roles. Oh, then there's deviled eggs. Then for dessert I'm baking a peach cobbler and homemade chocolate cake. Yummy.. It will be a special day for everyone.
Later that night I'll start preparing for dinner the next day at my husband's parents' home. My mother-in-law is cooking a beef roast and pork roast, and then everyone else is bringing a covered dish. I volunteered to cook all of the following side dishes: macaroni and cheese, candied sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies. I think I just realized how much baking that I have ahead of me!!! YIKES!! Oh well. I'm just thankful that we have been blessed with our families.
On a bit of a different note, if anybody likes country music- listen to Alan Jackson's "Remember When" and look up the lyrics on the net while you're listening. It's a beautiful song. I have to go for now. Goodnight!
