One Clean, One Dirty, One On

One clean, one dirty, and one on. That was pretty much the uniform issue when I wa in the service. In the Navy we had two different dress uniforms, a set of whites and a set of blues worn depending on the season, and three work uniforms. The idea of the work uniforms being that at any given time you would be wearing one work uniform, have one in the laundry, and one clean and ready to wear. That worked pretty well on a ship and saved storage space.

After three months on the road I've been doing laundry since I got home two weeks ago. I reaally miss that old one clean, one dirty, and one on idea about now. Having been out for so long this last time I actually wound up coming home with more clothing than I had left with as I'd had to buy new clothes a few times just to have clean stufff to wear. I had also done some laundry a couple of times while out as well.

I'll be leavng the cold weather clothing at home now. I really don't think I'll be needing it any more for a few months. I'll be taking more shorts this time as well. It really is amazing how much clothing a person needs for a month. That's what I normally take with me, a month's worth of clean clothing.

Ironing. I hate ironing. A large portion of my Summer clothing is cotton. Cotton is just cooler. It also has to be ironed as it wrinles pretty badly. I just spent the last two hours ironing up what needs to be ironed.  No fun. I should buy more permanent press items but have found they tend to be hotter in the Summer than plain cotton items.

I need a maid.

Dont go to Idaho - I hear they had a winter storm watch this weekend. ;)

I had a maid once - my sister. When she split with her husband they (her son and her) moved in, and she did not like my way of cleaning. So she did it. Hehehehehe. Worked out well for both of us (I was single at the time). ;)

Just my luck I'll run in to some damn cold weather somewhere. Ah well, I always carry a jacket no matter the time of year.

In the past I've always had a girlfriend (wife for a while) to handle that sort of stuff. Far too expensive so I guess I just have to do it myself.

Not my stupid dryer. They always come out of it wrinkled to beat hell. It's a small unit that is a washer and dryer all in the same unit. It sucks.

Try Downy Wrinkle Releaser, you just spray on, tug and smooth, and in five minutes or so wrinkles are gone.

Has saved my lazy butt a couple of times.

I hate ironing too. But if I need something ironed I will do it myself. The old "if you want something done right" philosophy. I'm actual pretty good at ironing which is okay but now I end up doing it anytime Rose needs something ironing. ;)

When I was in the Airforce at recruit training, we applied the same logic as used by the Navy when it came to clothing.  As you said, dress uniform plus one clean, one dirty, one on, a set of sports clothing and a set of civvies.  Of course, by the time I was a fully fledged Airman, all this went out the window.  But I like the idea and use it when we travel so I can go as light as possible.

Yeah when on a trip it does come in handy.
