Starbase Question

Hi all,

This is my very first post here, so please forgive me if this has been a topic of discussion.  There is so much information here it would take weeks to get caught up...weeks I would rather spend playing the game.

Here are my questions:

Can you convert a starbase type?  For example, I'm more into victories by influence over war.  If I plant two influence starbases in a sector and all the opponants planets change to me, can those starbases be converted into say an economy starbase?  If so, how? (please)

The other question is a piggyback off the first.  If I have to destroy an influence starbase because I have reached my limit, or the cost is just to high, does the cost go back down or does it continue to rise?

Thanks in advance for any help or tips on starbases.

Killing them with kindness,

Marty

I am unaware of any way to convert starbases between types.

I am reasonably sure that destroying a starbase you own cause the cost of subsequent starbases to go down: that is, the cost of a new starbase is based on the number you have presently active.

No.

Goes down. The cost of a SB is in DL and DA calculated by the formula (should be the same in TA):
(number_of_starbases - 5) * (150 - logistic).

First 5 SBs are free, for the rest you pay. So it is wise to remove "unused" SBs (military ones that were once on the frontline, but the frontline moved away, or influence ones, after they did convert all planets in its range).

Thanks for the help. I guess in the next release I would like to be able to convert Star Bases. Even if were at just a 25% savings it would be worth it.

I have always wondered about this? If I flip a planet, once I remove the SB, does that increase the likelihood of it flipping back?

Ok, so your questions have been answered, but I have one of my own:

How do I access the Map Editor?

If that planet is deep in the opponent's influence zone, don't scrap that SB until you get more of nearby opponent's planets.
